Don't worry I was exactly the same...In fact I should have had shares in Radox the amount of money I spent on the lavender bubble bath was stupid!
:rotfl:
I would be watching the clock all day so I could have that soak in the bath before bed! I used to put loads of bubble bath in & eat lots of bubbles...I also just loved the smell. Fair to say my Hubby thought I was barking!
Anyway my little girl is fine so I wouldn't worry! xxOur 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:
I'm hopeful that this get's me out of cooking Christmas dinner!
Baby Ruby arrived after 55 hours of labour & an emergency c section on Christmas Day at 14.41 weighing 6lb 6oz...And yes I did get out of cooking Christmas dinner!!:rotfl:0 -
Just in case anyone else suffers with this, I started taking the iron tablets that I was given 3 weeks ago by the doctor
.
I hadn't been taking them because they made me so poorly but figured that now I am on ML I can afford to feel a bit rubbish.
My soap cravings have all but gone (just the odd sniff LOL)! So prob was connected to iron deficiency! :rolleyes:Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet...0 -
I think pica is nearly always due to an iron deficiency, though what you crave is usually unlikely to remedy it. The desire for something crunchy (raw veg, ice, crystals) is another indicator of anaemia."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

I craved coffee grounds and soil in both my pregnancies. I did actually try eating some coffee grounds once but they gave me terrible indigestion so I didn't do it again. I never tried to eat soil because I knew it would be so bad for me/the baby, but it was very tempting. I used to have a flowerpot full of damp soil which I could sniff...I was slightly anaemic in my first pregnancy, but not at all in my second and the cravings were far worse second time around. So I don't think it is necessarily to do with anaemia. And all the other minerals they tested for were fine as well.
My midwife said it was just due to hormones, and didn't seem concerned about it at all. I did find it quite distressing in my second pregnancy, as it was such a strong feeling which I couldn't control. It didn't subside completely until the baby was about 2 weeks old. Even now I do still quite like the smell of damp soil, and I have always loved the smell of tar, so maybe you're more likely to suffer from it if you're the kind of person who likes those sorts of smells anyway?
Good luck to all those who've posted who are currently pregnant!0 -
Glad your cravings have subsided, OP :T
But I do agree with a couple of previous posters - my bloods and iron levels were fine in my second pg and I still craved toothpaste. Goodness knows what it's all about.
(Women, you're all mental, that's what my DH says and he may be right when it comes to this:rotfl: )

I just remembered the other thing I did alot whilst pregnant....Chew the hot water bottle! I have no idea why but I used to love chewing the top of it...very strange! :rotfl:Our 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:

I was never lucky enough to get any craving with both pregnancies. I really wanted a craving but I never had any. My OH on the other hand seemed to have my cravings for me  weird stuff like sliced onions with picallilli and sald cream on
. He also went through the 'nesting' period as well - constantly cleaning even though it was already clean
he's not like that anymore though...
A friend of mine did the sponge eating thing, she used to eat a couple a week  I had never heard of it before or since until this thread!0
