Beware of OSPS 12 Month Free Line Rental deals with orange

A couple of months back i took up a 12 month free line rental deal with orange on 100 ovp tariff. When i received the phone the paper work stated 11 months free.

After unsuccesfully trying to sort out with OSPS i went to trading standards. Today trading standards informed me that Orange would not honour the free 12 months line rental only 11 months and that they were entitled to change their terms. Trading standards argued regarding consumer protection but they were not interested, so they are going to take it up with OSPS.

I notice OSPS are still enticing people with 12 months free line rental on orange so beware.

This is very odd that Trading Standards discussed this with Orange  . You have just usual 12-months contract with Orange , probably with something like half-price rental for first 3 months. 12 or 11 months free line rental is in fact result of your contract with OSPS regarding cashback (redemption) and Orange have nothing to do with this.
The fact that OSPS often change orders without buyer's consent has been reported many times and they even have this in Terms & Conditions:
We shall not be deemed to have accepted your order for Equipment unless they have been confirmed in writing by one of our authorised representatives
I don't want to tell that these T&C are fare though ...

I wanted to place an order with your company but then aft4er reading the complaints about the way you honour your cashback deals, i have for now changed my mind. Pls read the above thread that i have put above this message.

If you feel you can offer a 12 months free line rental deal but change it upon delivery i think thats very unfair and unfortunately your customer base will decrease. If however you resolve those issues which of course will be noted by the agrieved customers, it may restore some faith in your company.

ABOVE IS WHAT I WROTE TO THEM....LET US ALL KNOW IF THEY GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU!

I had the same thing with OSPS about 4 months ago (there is a thread on here). I spoke to trading standards who felt that (a) OSPS should have contacted me prior to dispatching a different deal to thwe one I had purchased (b) Given that they had sent a different deal they should refund my postage if I wished ot cancel the order and return the phone and (c) THe OSPS T&C stating there were free to do this probably breached the distance selling regulations.
Armed with this info OSPS quickly agreed to refund the return postage, however asd the deal I was offered had been very good indeed I kept the phone - and later discovered that OSPS were honouring the deal for those who had been referred by an individual (Reesit Mutton on this website) who put a lot of business their way. Armed with this info I contacted them again and got a cheque for the missing cashback.
SO moral is keep arguing, by all means quote the precident and always use the geographic number to talk to the CS department
    I think....

Isn't it surprising that people keep buying from OSPS given that there is plenty of into on this forum and others to show that they deserve to go out of business. Any company which can unilaterally hange what the customer ordered desrves contempt.

A good looking deal aint good if they dont pay nd you spend hours arguing. Perhaps we ought to havge sticky which lists all the bad companies wityh links to the thread.

You are spot on. In my eyes they are nothing more than a bunch of thieves that owe me £110.

  • i would never deal with them again as i had major problems getting cashback and it is only when i started emailing their director personally that i got any response and eventually any joy.

Now that they are part of CPW i thought their website and service has improved slightly but of the three chains in their group CPW, E2 save and OSPS they are far the worst.
Anyone not tried contacting e2save and asking them to pricematch?

That may be a way out for those that want the deal with a bit more of a guarantee.

They deny reciving letters that 1) the Royal Mail say have been delivered 2) The same letter they deny receiving they have alreasdy responded to and provided cahsback for one of two accounts claimed for in the letter!
