Cashback Price Comparison Services Discussion

Hi lisyloo
I'll have a go at working out the costs, but I don't recall seeing the individual companies' unit charges anywhere. Is that available on the comparison services sites?
Cheers

Hi smartass,
I'm in the South West
Many thanks for the additional info.

The low user unit price for the SWEB region is being increased by 8%.
(Old price = 6.5625p per unit, New price = 7.0875p/unit)
(These prices include VAT)
(The standing charges and club fee are not being changed on April 1st)0 -

I quite like the site
https://www.energylinx.co.uk
There is a "i" in one of the columns which shows all the rate information.
You need to multiply your annual usuage in kwH by the rate.
You also need to add on any standing charges and membership fees and subtract any discounts.
You also need to be careful with VAT.
Check whether it's included or not in any prices.
VAT on fuel and standing charges is 5%, but VAT will be 17.5% on membership fees if not included.0 -
Many thanks for all the help, everyone.
I'm on the case.
Cheers

Hello VJG,
If you use Energylinx you must tick the third option, non-standard terms & conditions, if you want Telecom Plus included in the comparisons.

I've just used 3 different sites which all gave me the same company as the cheapest result (Scottish Power Online Energy - Standard) for duel fuel, but the claim different savings?!
1. Save on your bills/EnergyWatch says I will save £147.64
2. Switch+give.com/Energy helpline says I will save £130.23
3. Energylinx.co.uk says I will save £141.19
2 is the only site to take British Gas' "prompt payment reductions" which I current get, into account. At least I assume that is what the "do you pay promptly" question was for.
But why 1 and 3 give different answers again is a mystery to me. I entered the exact same readings to all the sites.
This is going from British Gas 15095 kWh/year and npower 3393 kWh/year, both currently with 1/4ly bills paid promptly in Birmingham B24. I selected monthly DD payments for the future. If anyone can explain why they give 3 different figures I'd be most grateful!
(Edit: no response - does that mean no-one knows?)

Based on Martin's latest article I looked at my gas and electricity comsumption as I am currently with Atlantic Electric and Gas.... [flash=200,200]Martin reports that tariffs are to go up big time in July[flash=200,200].
I have put the same annual consumption/cost into the comparison sites and get different answers both for new supplier and savings. This seems to be the on-going unresolved problem for some in this discussion board....or have I missed something?
My problem is that I will switch if the annual savings are worth it but to what company and for how much 'savings' when the recommendations are different from each 'independent' comparison sites.......and if I do change how do I know who is telling the truth?
The cynic in me says that as the comparison companies are taking a cut then it is in their interest to be slow with updates if they gain by so doing.
Any help or advice on this total confusion (I thought these were to clarify not confuse ???) and has anyone done a comparison between sites and if so which two are the most up to date/best? Does anybody know when are these updated and when would be the best time to compare tariffs for this latest switch?
Help..............Save a Lert0 -
Well there has been deafening silence in response to my post of almost a month ago. I'm in the process of switching and will save money, but it's annoying not knowing which comparison sites are truthful and which are lieing.0
