What can I say, except tight b******s
[move]Leo :) :)[/move]
You can say that again.
When I was with them for electric and gas I rang up asking if they gave out free energy-saving bulbs. They said no. I applied to transfer both utilities to new companies in September. My electricity was switched in October but i'm still having problems switching the gas. This means i'm no longer on Onebill. What did I receive in the post this morning? A leaflet with a form to send off for a free energy-saving bulb (together with the offer of a £20 Curry's voucher if I take them up for the other utility) ::)0 -
Hi E-Angel
I think you are right.
I just found this it appears that one of these companies has just sunk $100million in New Delhi - they are just playing with us!
I think they need to start putting their money where there mouth is.

Leo,
I searched the Energylinx site and for internet only account it came up with Scotpower saving £38.
For all accounts it came up with guess who?
TP.
The funny thing was for TP it came up with three completely different tariffs, light, standard and high.
Confusing or what?
This is what makes me think that they just move you to whichever tariff applies for each month`s usage.0 -
Andrea,
I got a letter at the end of Nov. from Pgen telling me of the price increase due in Jan 04.
It also said that if I was staying with them to send my name and acc. no. and I would receive two energy saving light bulbs free.
I sent off on 1st Dec.,
still waiting.0 -
In the article, Martin writes:Give to charity. If you would prefer money to go to charity rather than pay you cashback then you can use Switch and Give which will donate up to £40 to charity if you switch via it.
Martin also writes:while the switch and give link in the article is a specific link from this site, no affiliation is paid, as all the money goes to charity
When you visit switch and give using the link from the article
http://www.switchandgive.com/mse (The link in the article is shown as a shortcut - "Switch and Give")
you see this:Give up to £30 to the charity of your choice for FREE!
But if you go direct to the site, using
https://www.switchandgive.com
(NB you first must clear your internet cache before using this link, otherwise you still get taken to the affiliated page!)
you see:Give up to £40 to the charity of your choice for FREE!
The great mystery of the 'missing' tenner??0 -
Hi Alared
I'm pretty sure i didn't get that but probably because i'd already moved my electricity away from them by then.
Fingers crossed that we'll receive them heh? I don't think i'll hold my breath ::)0 -
SmartAss, Thanks for pointing that out. I assure you this site gets no payments whatsoever from Switch and Give. They asked me to use the affiliated link so they could track the site traffic. I suspect there's a bog standard default for affiliated sites that means it auto says £30 because they get paid - something I refused to do and managed to get them to give the extra to charity. Must admit I hadn't noticed the disclaimer. The exact amount given to charity depends which providers you switch to (dependinghow much S&G is paid) but still it should say £40 as that's what they've told me.
PS Smartass if it's ok with you - once its corrected im going to delete your post on it and my post - just so people don't get confused (site owners prerogative - though if you object i will leave it)

Hello Martin
My post wasn't intended to cast any suggestion that the site was getting paid! (You said that was the case, and I quoted you!). (Indeed, I would have contacted you privately if I had considered that the article was deliberately misleading!)
The post WAS intended to point out another example of why people should be wary of comparison sites (who's motives are not purely philanthropic) - and of course, there is the mystery of them offering only £30 using mse link.
I was hoping that Switch and Give would post an answer to the 'mystery of the missing tenner' - I have noticed that the comparison sites are sometimes very quick to post on the board when other 'misunderstandings' have been highlighted!!
If you delete the post, then there is no chance of us ever getting to the bottom of what they did with the tenners - though, of course it is your board, and I do accept you can delete anything you want!!
Hopefully this post would ensure that "people don't get confused"!, though if you prefer, I could incorporate this post as a modification to the original post.0 -
Smartass you misunderstand me - I wouldn't delete if there was any issue - only if this is just the wrong wording. I will most certainly check every switch thats ever gone through this site gave the full £40 and that the web is changed.
Then i'll post back here once all is confirmed and delete the posts. I just dont want people being confused about itMartin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

When you speak to Switch and Give can you please also find out why they don't show:
Basic Power when you look at electricty only or Telecom+ when you look at dual fuel.
Whilst these show up on other sites, neither this site or the other one they own, Energyhelpline, appears to list these deals. My postcode is SW6 4DD.
Are they just a tied agent or something like that?
Also I tried to send this without an email as I don't have one so I just made up my email address, sorry about that. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
