I did the upgrade to AVG 8.0free & am now regretting it as I'm having the slow pc probs that people have mentioned.
So I'm considering either reverting to AVG 7.5 or changing to a different one - possibly Avira, less likely Avast (thier site confused me I clicked the link to the free version & it was all in foriegn!)
Well guys & galls which would you do & what to I need to bare in mind ie one of them I believe doesnt have an email scanner - I want that, can I get that seperately somewhere?
But the MAIN question is how... Do I uninstall AVG then download/install or download - come off line to uninstall & then install new or what is the best way
I'm on a rota'd day off so I'd like to get this sorted if poss (so I can get back to playing games like I should be doing lol)

Get yourself over to www.eset.com and download a trial of NOD32 which is noted for being light on resources. I can guaratee you'll find it worth paying for. It has full email and web scanning in realtime. Just get the AV/Spyware solution - no need to go for the full fat Security Suite as there are plenty of free firewalls out there.
Once you've done that, close down your browser, uninstall AVG and install NOD32. You'll be OK from potential infection whilst you do this.0 -
Don't revert to AVG 7.5, it will no longer recieve updates soon.
I use Avast and it works fine for me.

Been using Eset Smart Security for a year now and have just paid for 3 year licence. Seemed worth it to me."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Thanks Conor but all tho that looks great I really dont want to have to pay (tightwad me) (although I do pay for Tune-up but thats just £12-14/yr & well worth a £1 a month

The trial doesn't cost a penny."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

It was only using the trial myself I realised how poor the free AV, firewall etc programs actually were and how much of my PC's resources they used up, intruded into everyday activity etc. I wonder if actually the time saved has actually been financially better for me that if I'd stuck with the free alternatives."She is quite the oddball.
