  • Hi I normally buy Heinz Mean beans at 80p but saw them in tesco for 20p all flavours other than herbs.

I then went in the 99p store (you can get some amazing bargins there, Got 10 bags of flour there once for £1) to see they had them too, I asked thinking it would be 5 for a £1 or something and they said it was for one can.

The fact that 99p store had them means they are either being discontinued or are close to there sell by date, as the date was not for a while it looks like Heinz are discontinuing these and I really like them and no other company does them from what I can see. So imagine Tesco do the cheap prices on discontinuing products that dont sell and have loads in wearhouse.

I have just had an email from a very upset friend this minute telling me and everyone to stop buying from Heinz anyway due to banning this advert:

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article4205422.ece

Regarding the Whip I imagine they have millions of packets made at once and depending on how there sales are going to last to bestbefore date they reduced the price to increase sales so they are on target.

I have been reading this thread with interest, and am off to Tesco tomorrow to stock up on 10p goodies. But can somebody please tell me how to use the damn coconut milk blocks??!!
I have visions of OH coming home tomorrow, and the house being stocked to the roof with 10p bargains, including this coconet milk. I need to know how you guys use it, so at least I can explain away the purchase of 20 blocks of the stuff!
Trying to get out of debt......it's a slow but satisfying road! :j

taken from the Waitrose website this tells you what you can use it for
Creamed coconut is a solid white block made from pure coconut and is widely used in Thai, Indian and Caribbean cooking. It adds a distinctive coconut flavour and rich, creamy texture to dishes, chopped into chunks it can be stirred directly into sauces to thicken them. It can also be reconstituted with hot water before use, following packet or recipe instructions. Creamed coconut can be reconstituted and used in recipes instead of coconut milk. To make up the equivalent of 300ml of coconut milk roughly chop 50g of creamed coconut and stir in 100ml of hot water, stir well to mix and use as required. As a substitute for coconut cream, dissolve 75g creamed coconut in 100ml of hot water and stir until smooth. Creamed coconut can also be grated and used in place of desiccated coconut.
Uses: Creamed coconut is popular in a variety of dishes including curries, soups and fish dishes, it adds richness and flavour and can also temper the heat of curries. It can be used to thicken sauces, casseroles and soups - stir gradually until the desired consistency is required.
To store: Keep in a cool, dark cupboard and once opened store in an airtight container to prevent the block drying out.
To prepare: Reconstitute with hot boiling water or chop and stir into sauces.
  • If you can't face kerb-crawling the aisles have a look at https://www.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.co.uk - select "I want to see items from all" and look at everything the major supermarkets are selling sorted by price (ascending of course).

Sorry, I can't recall who was desperate for chocolate, but Asda have Cadbury Dairy Milk singles at 6p:j Whoop-di-doo!
 Procrastination? Mmm, let me think about that ...
