They put up a poster saying that as a thankyou for recycling they were now giving us one point for every two cans - making everyone think they were getting extra. What they didn't say was that they were taking away all the other points!!!!!!!! In our house it means that our own recyling bin will be a lot fuller and the milk bottles I used to bring home from work will end up in a landfill site somewhere. - Come on Tescos give us back the incentive!!!!!!!
a massive thank you, my point exactly, the difference in our house is unbelievable, were having to recycle at the local asda every other week, as our recycling box is full.
xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

I would have thought the real incentive was to help protect our planet by recycling, not worrying about a couple of extra clubcard points.Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before0 -

Its not just an extra couple of club card points, me personally we were recylcing via Tesco machine and averageing 50 - 100 points a week, as were saving the clubcard vouchers towards a holiday - thats £2.00 to £4.00 a week were losing. Yes we were still recycling, either via our council collection or putting the bottles etc in a bottle bank, its the principle of the fact that for one reason and another Tesco thing there doing everybody a favour by paying only for cans..... They move thegoalposts to suit themselves......xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
In fairness to Tesco, I bet they did get the machines vandalised.
My trick was to spot the machine being emptied, do my shopping, then go back and put my card in and help clear the backlog dumped round the machine.
However it is difficult to earn minimum wage rates even with an endless supply of recyclables.
[Now if you go to China, where the cockle pickers came from, "everything" is recycled by people with 3 wheel cycle carts doing their rounds and scavenging].0 -

I agree it is not just the odd clubcard points. I have just paid for a family holiday largely due to the recycling. This included picking rubbish up as I walked around the area. Yes saving the planet is important, but what is the point of using extra fuel to drive further to the local tescos when it could go in our home recycling bin. I agree it is the deceitful nature of the way things have been sold to us which is totally abhorent! They are lying by omission.0 -
Why is everybody expecting Tesco to pay them when they recycle but not the council?0

Its not the case of expecting Tesco to pay us to recycle, it was a sweetner, when the recycling was paying it was 4 items = 1p, but over a few months the points added up, and esp if you wanted vouchers the extra points come in useful.
Im sure Tesco as for any other business would certainly be getting more than 1p for 4 items of recycling.xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Thank you Mum2one - you are obviously on my wavelength - are you also trying to bring up children on a limited wage? With a family of five we regularly fill up two wheely bins full of recycling. By inducing us with clubcard points I went out of my way at least once a week to drive the couple of miles to the tescos site to recycle - not only our home rubbish but all the recycling from my work place - including water cooler cups and milk bottles etc. Nowhere have they actually told the consumer that they are withdrawing the extra points. It is not the fact that they have withdrawn them that gauls me - although it is hardly a green incentive(!) it is, as I come back to again, the underhanded way and deceitful way they have done it!!!!!!!!0

Theres me and my daughter, Im on low income, and Im studying with the OU (lucky get 90% course pd otherwise couldnt do it) and I know to some people its only a few clubcard points, but weve just changed some thats a weeks hol pd 4 nxt yr. Same here, every item that could be recycled went in, even bottle tops. Tesco are making out that there doing the "consumer" a benefit by offering the 2 points per can, mmmm Tesco advantage, guess a lot of councils are wondering why their recycling units are coming back fuller quicker. Tesco most proberly rubbing their hands the amount of clubcard points they are saveing. xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
