I found a water spray bottle very useful to prevent making them too wet. What went wrong with them?
Well I think I added too much water as they fizzed up too much and there was loads of bubbles in them. Then I left them in the mould while I went to collect the kids from school and then when I returned they had stuck and I couldn't get them out!!! What did you use to fragrance yours???
cookiedough38 - love the flannel handbag - so classy with the sprig of lavender. Is there anything inside it???

Don't worry that happened to mine too! I've still got a load of the stuff sat in the cupboard as I gave up making them :( If you can tell me where I went wrong to then I might dig it all out and have another go!! :D

  • definately sounds like you put too much water in, I also took mine out of the moulds to dry as well. I sprayed a little bit of water on each time until the mixture just about held together, once its all compacted in the mould it holds together anyway with very little moisture.

melissa - there is a bar of soap inside. tesco value 15p for 3, so the soap cost 5p, the flannel was in a pack of 99p for 3, so 33p, the ribbon was material from inside a top, you know the bits they use to hang it on the hanger and they always hang outside your top once you have bought it! Tiny bit of cling film to wrap, bit of card from some wrapping and the sprig of lavender from my garden. A total cost of 38p!

This is the instructions I followed for the bath bombs http://www.meltandpoursupplies.com/2008%20website/Bath%20Bomb%20Making%20Instructions%202008.pdf

    I used this fragrance too

MrsTine - I spent a fortune on stuff last xmas (a xmas present to myself). I got cocoa butter, almond oil, shea butter, all sorts of botanicals, I can't even think what else!!
Cookiedough38 - I can't believe they are your first attempt - they look fabulous! I'll check out the link - thanks!
Mrs Tine are you up for a challenge - who can make the worst bath bomb? I bet I'll win!!!!

Cookiedough38 - how much fragrance did you put in? Am I right is melt and pour supplies free postage at the minute (I'm sure I read it somewhere)?
  • It was free postage, but now its only free postage for orders over 40 pounds, otherwise its 6 pounds. I wish I had ordered more and taken advantage of the free postage offer.

I put in a fair few drops of fragrance, not sure how much as its hard to actually see it, but until it smelt fairly strong.

Good luck with your next lot, just be very sparing with the water thats my only advice.

Mary the bits in it are lavender which looked good. Trouble is when I dropped it in the bath all the lavender got stuck in my hair and I had to try and pick it out!
