haven't looked at this post since june and cant believe how much its grown!!
I made my very first infused vodja last night, with kola kubes. I dont like vodka myself but as there is a bit too much left over after pouring it back into the voddie bottle one of my friends is more than hapy to sample that bit for me! smells fantastic. going to get my brothers and their wives favourite old fashioned sweets and make them a flavoured vodka out of it for christmas.0 -

Hi Shaz, my other half has chilli vodka, he had a big 1 litre bottle of smirnoff (thats what was in the cupboard) and put about 4 smal different coloured chillis in there (purple, red, green, yellow) and it aparently tastes lovely and hot ... I won't touch the stuff though! I believe the longer they are in there then the stronger the taste, although not sure how it works with sweetsRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0

Hi All!
Just thought I would share with you what I got up too at the weekend. I made these two candles and I think I will be popping them in Christmas Hampers for folks. Saving hard for a brighter future!:beer:0 -
For the sweetie vodka - I bought a bag of cough candy and asdas cheapest vodka and you pop the sweets into the bootle - usually have to decant some vodka to fit them in. Then shake and leave and shake everyday for a couple of days - they will dissolve and thats it! I made it for my brother last year - I dont drink so cant tell you what it tasted like - but he thought it was very strong!
Dont know if thats good or bad!

Thanks Mary they didn't take too long to make but annoyingly I've got an extra shift this week and we are house hunting in Hampshire so no time to make anymore this week.
I love the sound of the sweetie vodka, thats the two brothers sorted for Christmas hehe. Does anyone have a list of sweeties that work best for this? I could make up a nice label to put on it as well. Saving hard for a brighter future!:beer:0 -

Shaz - cant remember where but i found a forum online where people were making all sorts of flavoured vodkas. general rule seems to be for one 70cl bottle of vodka use 200g of boiled sweets. jelly sweets can be used too but if you put the vodka in the freezer it turns to jelly apparently! i poured a bottle of vodka into a large kilner jar i got from ikea and plopped sweets in. kept stirring it to stop them sticking and by morning the sweets were completely dissolved.
one of my friends tried the kola kube one tonight and i had some with lemonade in it - lovely but pretty sweet, would be better with soda maybe...
i have rhubarb and custard to try and pear drops too. hic!0
