  • Well I called in at Primark on the way home and bought a pair of socks for £1.50 and whipped up a sock monkey with some thread, a bit of wadding and some marrowfat peas. It is really cute (another pic I need to put on here) and took about 4 hours I think. Definitely a project I will repeat again :)

Marrowfat peas ???? Is that for your monkey to hold, or for a quick tea in order for you to spend more time sewing ???
A creative mess is better than tidy idleness :D
  • He he, you are supposed to use lentils I think or some of those beans you can buy at extortionate prices from Hobbycraft but I just put a few peas in the ends of its arms, legs, tail and in its bum so it sits down, it really was a pleasure to make though as most of the body is formed for you already by the shape of the sock!

  • I found this book in my local library and have it out at the moment. If anyone is planning ahead as I know some of you are it is definitely worth a look, suggests lots of ethical gifts, handmade presents and decorations, environmentally friendly wrapping etc. Lovely ideas such as planting/growing a herb basket for someone who loves gardening :)
