  • You could add cookery type images to the recipes using clipart or the internet to make the recipes a bit more colourful?

most magazines have food articles/images in, you could use those - chat and sky tv mag are all i have to hand and both have food bits in.

I am putting together a recipe folder for my daughters partner and I wondered if any of you nice crafty people could give me some suggestions? My basic idea is to fill a blue stripey arch lever file (already bought) with the plastic insert thingys then pop some recipes in marked out sections. But i'd like to make the folder a bit more personal and interesting-just can't think how.

    How about having sections like
Romance and love - for all those candlelight moments
Family & Friends - Sunday Roasts etc
Lazy Days - Lazy Brunch and comfort food
10 Minute Meals - Quick and easy
    Occasions - BBQ,celebrations , Party , cakes & finger foods n stuff

Do you have any family recipes? You could have a section to carry on the tradition of passing these down , maybe leave room for them to add their own.

How about photos of any you have cooked ?

I'm sure i have seen food related card toppers an craft bits in poundland, maybe use something like this to decorate

Remember to put your handy work on here when your done , good luck

Thanks, you've just reminded me - I need to write my Xmas card list or better still, dig out last year's ;)

    No problem!

Currently making a batch of apple chutney for my food hampers. Someone on here posted the recipe ages ago. A friend of mine had been given so many apples that she didn't know what to do with them all, so I took them off her hands. The chutney smells gorgeous! I'm a bit scared that there seems to be an awful lot, not really sure I have enough jam jars, but only time will tell!

I've still got lots of apples left so might also make some apple cheese/curd.

    Currently food hampers will have:
    Apple and Blackberry Jam
    Bramble Jelly
    Spicy pickled onions
    Green tomato chutney
    Apple chutney
    Bilberry Gin

Might make up some sachets for Gluhwein and include a bottle of red and some instructions.

Also going to make chocolate shapes/slabs and some sweets closer to Christmas. Possibly mini Christmas cakes/stollen. Any other ideas would be greatfully received!

Most of the food to make was free (green tomatoes after a bad summer out the garden, blackberries picked, apples free, bilberrys picked!) so they're fairly cheap presents. God knows how I'm going to cope at Christmas on the train with 3 plus hampers plus all the other presents! I wish me or OH could drive!

Nemotoad is that the apple chutney recipe I posted? If it is it tastes delicious!! Its matured for a month now and its so nice with some mature cheese on a cracker! Yummy!!

I've nearly finished my first cross stitch card, well the actual cross stitch part of it! I will post you all a piccie once I've finished the last bit of the back stitch!

It might be easier to carry all the bits separately and make them up into hampers once you get there

Erm...now that is a good question lol. I believe that I used 500ml jars of which I filled 3 and 250ml jars which I filled 2! I thought it would make more hehe. They are suppose to be Christmas pressies with 1 jar for us but we like it so much I doubt our family will get a wiff hehe.

Yep, that's what I planned to do. I might even try sneaking in a visit to my parents before Christmas so I can leave some stuff there. We'll see though, I still think it's going to be a bit of a nightmare. Current plan is:

York - Solihull to see my OH's mum on the Saturday before Christmas,
Solihull - Nottingham on Christmas Eve to spend Christmas with my family, and then
Nottingham - York the Sunday after Christmas to be back for work on Monday morning! No rest for the wicked!
