Coverage on THREE

I can receive 3 3g where Ilive (South Manchester) but less than half a mile away thre is nothing at all. trawling the internet, it appears that the phone that I have (a Nokia 7600) has an option missing (thanks to 3) whereby I can 'fix' my network to O2 which they use where the 3g is non-existent. i.e. three use O2 where their own 3g ntwork is no good, but you cannot force your phone to permanently use O2 as they have removed the optoin on the phone.
BUT,,, go to http://www.3g.co.uk and do a search there - you can 'flash' a phone (what ever that means) for under £20, and the missing option appears again, so you can then fix your three phone to use O2 all the time.0 -
Well if you want a bargain there are plenty to be had on Three.
Two issues with Three though.
1) The coverage, if you are in good Three coverage you will not have a problems. If you have no 3g coverage you will have no problems (it uses the O2 network). If you have dodgy 3g coverage the phone will keep switching networks and you get dropped calls.
2) Compared to 2g operators the phones are awful. I have a Motorola C975 it is a brick, it is recommended that you charge it every day, and it generally looks and feels like something from the 80s. Other phones are better but it is not what you can get on the older 2g networks. As for unlocking mostly it's a no.
You can add to that the call centre in India and much more.
However when it works there are some absolutely excellent deals available, and that's why despite the above if next year I can get another three deal with effectively free phone, free line rental and 500 minutes and 100 texts (and I also get Video Value thrown in) I would be mad to say no.
And in case of problems keep another phone just in case...0
