Coverage on THREE

I am with Vodafone at the moment and I am considering going to THREE as the deals seem so good. I understand that coverage can be a problem.
How can I find out about coverage where I live. Is the coverage as good as Vodafone and O2 over the country?
Can the phone be unlocked and used with another provider at the end of the contract period if coverage is not as good as expected?

AFAIK '3' uses O2 where reception is bad.

We live in Milton Keynes and have just swapped from Vodaphone to 3g. My hubbie is an airport driver and has had no problems with coverage from Birmingham airport, Coventry Luton Gatwick Stansted Heathrow and anywhere in between. We have been with 3g for a couple of months on a cashback deal with e2save.com. We havent received any chqs as yet so dont know if they are ok but the coverage is as good as vodaphone in our area.

    Hope this helps

  • Coverage is fine in the south west also. I think 3 have drastically improved this year, I havent had to phone customer services for 6 months, which is a record. With the new phones coming out soon it looks like things will only get better with three (well hopefully). :)

ask people around ur area regarding the reliability of three where u live.

three is crap where i live, i can only pick up signal in one spot in my house.
also when my mate's call me from their three network phones, the call sometimes gets cut off. so im not a fan of three's!

    Dont touch 3!!!

Terrible customer service (India) Call Quality very poor with lots of dropped calls!!
If cost is a factor why don't you phone Vodafone's Retention Team and see what they can offer you to stay with the network.

Say to them that your thinking of leaving to go to 3 and explain the deal you have seen. To let you know, O2's Retention Team will actually better any 3 deal you find and they have much better coverage and customer service than 3.

I have had a look at the THREE coverage link mentioned in "grumblers" post and it shows that coverage is good in my area. I do not know anyone on THREE who lives near me.

Each year I give Vodafone a months notice, but they have never offered a deal as good as the 12 months free, 500 X net mins and 100 texts. I am sure that they will ring as they have in previous years. Last year the credits amounted to "free rental".

I am wary about THREE as comments vary.

www.coolnewmobile.co.uk have good offers for THREE and O2, but I have not heard of them before and if Vodafone do not come up with a good deal, Iwould like to buy from a company that is well know.

My contract terminates on the 30/10/05, so I have some time to follow up all the great advice which I get from this site.
    Thanks every body.

  • I honestly think 3 have improved a lot this year but they have had lots of problems. I had to send my mobile back to them 3 times last year, but touch wood its been perfect for over 6 months now. Yes they do offer good deals, though if you can get your current supplier to match the tariffs then do that. If not just keep an eye out for deals, I got a good deal for my partner from o2 directly recently or simply use a comparison site like mobdeal.com to keep track of the current best prices. Good luck. :)

Been with three for a few months, had no problems what so ever with the network or customer services (sometimes have to repeat things so they understand lol). But call quality has been very good. I use them quite a lot as i have 1500 minutes to get through each month on the tariff. I would recommend. cheep and cheerful. :)
