Morning (noon and night) sickness!

Hi all
Just thought I'd share the good news that I'm expecting my third baby :D
I'm worried about the morning sickness though. I had it horrendously with my second and have already started feeling the familiar waves. I was literally sick all day long and had I not had my other son to look after I would have been hospitalized as i lost weight rather than gained.
I'm very worried about this as I have to take my other two to and from school (3 trips a day).
Does anyone have any good tips?
I've read about a cd you can buy? Any one used it and found it worthwhile? Its quite expensive and i'd also have to buy a personal cd player to play in on so would like others opinions before parting with cash.
Thanks all :D

  • If all else fails your GP can prescribe tablets thatstop you feeling sick that are safe to take while you are pregnant.

I always found ginger helped a bit but couldn't hlep throwing up every morning whatever I did.
    Best of luck and congratulations.

Ginger biscuits first thing in the morning is supposed to help, or you can buy anti sickness wrist bands from the chemist, its worth a try :)

    Congratulations!!

I found that nothing worked at all for me through any of the first 4 and I am not going to bother with number 5. I can cope with the sicky feeling, its the headaches that turn into migraines that really knock me for six and am limited to what I can take.

So actually, I can offer no advice!!! I didn't like the ginger much but mixed with a hot lemon drink wasn't too bad - I tried it when a friend swore by it.

Thanks for the replies ladies - I can cope with the sicky feeling. I had that with ds1 - its just the constantly being physically sick (and I mean until I'm bringing up stomach bile!! sorry for the tmi!). i was so bad last time that I had to have an early twin scan and my hormone levels were through the roof! Still, they say no 2 pregs are the same some hopefully it wont be that extreme!
Skylight - did u try the cd?

When I had morning sickness I went to see a homeopath (I went to Neal's Yard - they have branches all around the UK so probably one near you) and they took into account my particular type of morning sickness and suggested a cure. I didn't use it in the end but it only cost about as much as the travel bands or a prescription, so worth giving a try as you wouldn't have wasted vast amounts of money.

Although I didn't use it that time I have found homeopathic remedies fantastic in the past when I have spoken to the homeopath directly (rather than just picking one up off the shelf.)
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right

Yep - its wierd I'm already feeling the rumblings! I took a test a few days ago and it was negative but that familiar feeling today prompted me to take another test and wow- I'm in shock!
Its sods law as when we had the negative i said leave it now until after our summer hol and I wanted to enjoy it. I knew as soon as I uttered those words that fate would have other ideas!

With DS2 I couldn't even look after DS1. It's not just the sick feeling (people seem to assume you just feel sick) it's the constant being sick. You can't get on with it if you are stuck to a basin/toilet/sink all day.

And the only way to stop being sick is to sleep (although I would wake up being sick most mornings) I didn't eat either, there was no point no matter what the midwife said. If I ate I was sick, if I didn't eat I was not as sick.

All I could do if I had to leave the house for more than 20mins was to drink a glass of water in one go knowing I would be really sick. It seemed to take about 30-45mins for me to start retching again after it.

The GP can prescribe tablets but they didn't give me any as I was not at a worrying weight.

Jelly is good for some people, it seems to sit for longer.

Shame that you put it all back on again after the birth!

Congratulations.....but don't assume you'll be the same with baby no.3 as with no.2, it may just be for a few weeks until your body settles down.

Toto recently started a thread on pregnancy sickness.....have a hunt for that, it may help.
