    Thanks for the chuckles!

And my how I laughed when I finally got a copy of the demanda from the solicitor.

Fancy! He had managed only to claim less than half of the money. What a joker.

Seriously though, at least the right amount was covered in two other points.

One was the figures I drew up for him listing everything quite clearly (it is slightly complicated as both my partner and I are involved though not equally).

The other is where the demanda says that we are claiming all the deposit money back.

So now he just has to send in a ‘clarification.’

Bless me.. it makes you weary sometimes.

But while there is a heartbeat, we shall go on.

Beware of 'experts.' Very true Clutton.

No news from the solicitor apart from a clarification of the procedure. But I am in contact with a member of staff from another estate agent who is in a position to keep me in the know as to what is going on.
Also just 'picked up' someone else who is in the same position as us in that they have been given 3 weeks notice to complete.

I am just trying to cover all options and gather as much info as I can - just in case.

The time to keep going is when everyone else would give up.

    Dear All,

I haven't got any news from the solicitor, but I continue with my 'private' investigations. It is only small news but I will post what I know tomorrow.

We have had family staying for the past couple of weeks. My head is a bit crazy with it. We can't mention the financial state we are in.

But anyway, as I say, I will write more tomorrow on what little I know.

Just to say though, that I am still essentially 'cool' with it and whatever happens will not destroy me.

Good grief. It is only money. And, after all, there are still potatoes and carrots growing in the garden so I can still afford myself a little smiley face.

i spoke to someone yesterday who has lost £250,000 and does not have a property to show for it - after getting involved with dodgy property-finding company - she has become very philosophical - and like you - now has moved on and adopts the view - it IS only money and she has her family and job and health and happiness to sustain her life and give her joy .....

It can be hard coming out of the mire with a smile on your face, but it can be done. Character building I guess you could say. Plenty of people have done it though, such as Ratner for one when he said his jewelery was c**p. Bet he wished he hadn't said it, but he clawed his way back up again.

So you just have to be more determined - and careful next time.

With no response from the developers, it looks like we are heading for a pre-hearing. This is where a judge will hear from both parties and suggest a financial meeting point for us.

Of course, this could go either way. They could suggest any number of things which might include reducing the amount of the balance we need to pay. And since we can’t pay the balance, reduced or otherwise, that just means that we loose the deposit.

Of course, it could just get thrown out without any sort of offer required.

Hopefully, they will come up with some sort of percentage though.

If either of us – the developers or us – disagree, it goes to a hearing with three magistrates.

Whatever the case, it sounds like it is going to be months before we get a firm resolution.

I hear though, interestingly, that someone has been given a ‘second’ date for completion, so I am trying to find out why. I am hoping that the developers have been forced to put on hold any further completions until this case is sorted out (which is what the solicitor told us would happen). Also this second date the people have been given is 4 years after the date the developers were given to complete and therefore 2 years past the limit for completing. That suggests to me that they do not have the official license yet which would mean that people have to complete (or loose the deposit) when asked to.

All supposition on my part. Oooh dear, that can get you in so much trouble!

Anyway good news is that I have just started my new money-making career. I got a children’s short story published on the web. I think I may need to write substantially more to make up the short fall though….
