Remember too with any basic account you can withdraw money for free from the Post Office so it does increase the number of places you can use your card, especially when restricted to one banks own ATM's.

Well I opened my LLoyds basic account in April. Yesterday, I phoned up to upgrade to a silver account and that went through fine even though my credit is really bad. So a new debit card and cheque book is on its way to me. Make sure you fund your account with your wages and leave money left over at the end of each month.

    Hi
May i ask just how bad you credit history is. I have recently opened one of these accounts. I will be funding it with over £2200 per month. I just wanted to gauge what my chances might be in a few months time.

    Many Thanks

Its very bad. I have defaults on both Experian and Equifax. No ccj's though. Once you get accepted for the cash account, fund it with as much cash as possible. After 3 months phone up and ask for an upgrade. I think Lloyds score you internally for upgrades.
