sadly your friend is looking at,

    large fine
drink driving stays on your license from 10 years

No point being narked about getting a fine in the middle of learning to drive, when she does eventually pass and regain the right to drive in a sober state, the insurance premiums will be so high the fine will be sweetie money compared to the insurance, she's looking at 4 figures easily.

Grow up and be thankful she didn't kill someone, because then she really would have something to worry about.

i heard on the radio the other day that if you get banned for drink driving for 12 months or more, it actaully stays on your licence for............11 years

Hope she's gonna be saving up the pennies while she's banned cuz she'll be needing em for the HEFTY insurance she's gonna be paying afterwards

It stays on your license for 11 years but it is not regarded after 10. Obviously after 11 years you can have it removed.

you can drive the next day after being arrested for it, innocent until proven guilty. ther may be mitigating circum/stances for being drunk at the wheel.

i have no idea what they are though?

    Medication or something?

    Silly her...
Sorry but with drink driving AND on a provisional license... I don't think character witnesses will make much difference...
She's going to get banned and she WILL get fined. Hopefully it'll do what it's supposed to and teach her a lesson so that she'll NEVER EVER do such a dumb thing ever again!
If she thinks it's unfair then tell her to go and speak to parents who have lost a child to a driver under the influence!
Sorry no sympathy from me! She could have slept in the car till morning when she'd probably have been sober.

Or got a taxi like the rest of us do when we've had a drink!

    She doesn't stand a chance.

she should also expect a leg tag too.

a colleague of mine is only 19, got caught drink driving got a 3 year ban and a leg tag.

The ban also stays on your licence for ever.

if she's trying to make things easier for herself....

Tough shouldn't of done it in the first place..

I got knocked down by an idiot who drank then drove, so no sympathy from me.
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?
  • How can she be banned......she hasn't a licience!

Hope the ban is a long and lengthy 1, keep her off the roads. I'm a HGV driver and I'm often starting work at 4/5am and have seen many a swerving driver off home after a late night.

    Its a pleasure.

the op said she was using a provisional licience, this is not a full licience yet, so what is she banned from? Taking her test? Lessons?
More than likely the fine will scupper any lessons n the immediate future, so does it 'ban' her from driving when she legally can.
