If you want to point fingers that goto http://www.cshop.co.uk/ this is the company that did there website but did not build any SQL injection security into there sites. So you might want to have a look through the list of other companies that they do websites for and make sure you dont shop with the others either.

I've been contacted today by Tesco visa fraud department and an attempt to "charge a significant number of items to your card via the Carphone warehouse website has been noted"
Tesco Visa confirmed my details had been hijacked as a result of Cotton Traders hacking.
I am now in the position where my card has been stopped and I am waiting for a new one ( 7 days) and I NEED to book hotel accommodation for my husband and autistic son to stay in whilst my younger son is having surgery at a hospital 200 miles from our home!
I spoke to Cotton Traders who assured my their website was very secure !!!!!!!!! and basically couldn't care less
I am totally stuffed - can't book a travelodge for the hospital visit on Thursday and friday without a credit card and hubby doesn't have a CC having successfully paid his all off at the end of last year (YIPPEE!) except now we are stuffed!
I am wondering if anyone know whether or not the Data protection act covers this? - i am so INCENSED by Cotton traders lack of customer service on this issue that if I thought the DP act covered the storage of my CC details and they have been hacked into I would take out a County COurt summons for the sheer inconvenience of it - I am now probably going to be out of pocket as when we get to Leeds on wednesday night prior to the hospital admission I will have to book into a hotel with cash....... always more expensive IF I can find one to take us
so if anyone knows a bout the DP Act-I'd be VERY grateful

I am a Cotton Traders customer & I phoned my bank and had my credit card cancelled ( a decision they agreed with) My problem is, I paid for goods with my credit card a short time ago, (a different company) I've received the goods, they not suitable and I am returning them for a refund, but their policy is to refund the money back on the same card, the card that I have now cancelled. What do I do now? Ask for a cheque? Wait for my new credit card & ask them to refund the amount onto it? Can anyone tell me what is the best thing to do now?In giving

Looks like lots of online traders have had their websites hacked. (Story below about the 16-year-old).
At least Cotton Traders have owned up which is more than can be said for Garages and Shops that have had their PIN pads doctored.
Have a read of this from The Times India.

Quiet life - i am in exactly the same position awaiting refund on an item on my old card number- when I asked my visa companuy she said that with this situaiton the credit will automtically be placed on the NEW card not the old
it is a worry though isn't it!0 -
Problem is, company I traded with only has my stopped credit card details. Does Visa mean that they automatically see the refund coming through for the stopped cc and transfer the refund to your new cc? I hope so but it's hard to believe they are that efficient! Fingers crossed for all of us.In giving

The old card details will still be on your card providers system. The fact that the card is blocked simply means it has a status on the system to automatically decline any payments requested from it. However, it will still allow a credit/refund to be processed.
Then, if the card is in credit it is your card provider that will transfer it over to your new card details. This may be done automatically or manually. Once the retailer has processed the refund wait a couple of days, if it isn't showing on your new card by then just call your card company and ask them how long it usually takes for them to transfer it.0 -

Hi, sorry to hear sbout your story, did you know that you can book travelodge with a debit card? Also, if you've got the cash to book into a hotel perhaps you could ask a friend/family member to book with their card and you paying them up front? Hope it all goes well, Tracy0 -
Thanks Tracey
luckilly my sister has booked the rooms on her credit card bless her - it's weird really because you don't realise how much you rely on them for emergencies - I think we should get another one just in case this sort of situation arises again - which is mad really as we've spent 2 years paying the blessed things off! - we only kept the one ( because I am more vigilant about paying off the whole balance than dear hubby is !) but I think a spare may be in order now
thanks for your advise
