Incorrect. Dover Priory was and is not my true destination. I live in the North and my destination was/will be towards the East. Evening restrictions applied for my destination and I have saved 'a lot' of money. :j

Totally correct on the journey you quoted as saving you money.

Maybe incorrect on the journey you did, but you are keeping that secret.
  • Got some more good news this week. As a gesture of good will to reflect my patience & courteous dealings with them, one of the train operators has offered me a free 1st class return anytime ticket to London in exchange for one of my vouchers. Not surprisingly, I accepted it as this fare would cost me over £150-00.

As a result, I have also rebooked my other trip at no extra cost to myself.
  • Some Good News for all the people living in Scotland, First Scotrail and the Scottish Daily Record/Sunday Mail have team up to offer travel anywhere in Scotland for £15 return and 1 child can travel free at the same time.

Check this link out First Scotrail Offer but basically all you need to do to take advantage of this superb offer you must collect a booking form and 3 differently numbered tokens from the Daily Record and Sunday Mail available between 24 and 28 January 2010.

Time to do that trip up to the Kyle of Lockalsh

Thanks. Your website advises that there are fares for £14-00 from Ashford International-to-London Victoria return for Super off-peak return. I am expecting to receive guests from France over the next few weeks but , after searching journeys. can't find any train journeys as advertised on your website for £14-00. If I can't get an offer, I will drive down and pick them up as it will cost me less money.

    Please advise.
  • Maybe its because the £14 Offer is for a Super Off Peak Day Return and therefore only valid for one day, but if you buy this ticket from Southern website you get a further discount down to £11.90.

However, Southern don't operate direct from Ashford Int to London Victoria, so to get this fare you have to go via Brighton which on average takes 3 hrs, to search out this fare, on your search website select 'via' and input 'Brighton'.

I will now drive down and pick them up from London International. It will be a lot quicker and cheaper than using the trains.

No problem, only wish I could have been more help.

One last thing you could try is Megabus.com you can get some pretty cheap weekday fares from London Victoria bus station or London St Pancras (International) to many place up North, maybe worth a try?

Well I make it £59.90, which is a lot over £50 a head. Is that what you found? That's the walkon fare, which you can buy on the day at the same price.

You should be able to get it cheaper - but not for a week or so yet as the cheap advance fares are not yet released.

You will probably find that the only cheap fares are with transpennine express via Manchester - a bit on the slow side. I'm seeing £17.50 upwards each way on some dates that are released.

It would be worth looking at split ticketing at say Wigan or Preston, where you would change onto a Virgin service to Edinburgh. Preston to Edinburgh could be under £10 each way if you are lucky. Maybe a bit more at a weekend.
