For proof of identification, you need to provide a certified copy of your passport and the usual utility bill / bank statement for proof of address.

Monthly payment have to be made by standing order. As has been discussed elsewhere that simply means one or more BACS payments from UK acounts.

The first payment can be by cheque or, if it is an electronic payment, it will go into a holding account. Subsequent payments by SO to your personal Halifax International account number.

The application process can take up to 7 days. Goodness knows how long snail mail to the Isle of Man takes.

The first payment must be received by 24th July for the 10% offer to stand.

The holding account sort code does not accept Faster Payments.

Mine is set up and the first payment has arrived so to answer questions:-

I set up SO from Lloyds and it took three days to arrive.
Will try an SO from Halifax next month.

When you open the account you get various options for interest:-
You can give them your NI number - they send details to the tax man, pay interest gross, you add to your tax return, and pay tax on interest then.
You can choose "Retention Tax" and they will deduct 20% rising to 35% in 2011. In this case, no details are passed to the tax man.
You can declare you are tax exempt.

    I selected the first option.

Several letters from them and one to them. All arrived within two days.:T

Just downloaded the form ... you have to jump through bloody hoops for these offshore accounts!

I was told on the phone that proof of source of funds does not have to be provided for the regular saver. Is this correct?

I filled and submitted in the form online. At the end it asked me to print and sign a declaration - which was not there!. Phoned them up and they emailed the declaration bit only which I signed and sent back (std UK post cost in case you were wondering!)

The web application did not ask any of the horrible questions in section 5 of the downloadable form - so do it online!:j
Only proof I had to supply was for my ID.

How long does the SO transfer take in your experience (presuming that you checked online)?
What sort code are they using? (I am wondering whether they can receive Faster Payments.)

SO from Lloyds took normal 3 - 4 days
SO from Halifax UK only went today and it has not arrived yet - I guess either 24 hours if it counts as internal transfer or 3-4 days if not.

Sort code cannot accept faster payments:(

I've recently opened one of these and my first SO payment has just left the feeder account today.

The sort code they use is 11-03-48, and no, it doesn't accept Faster Payments.

Halifax International seem to insist on sending the SO instruction to your feeder bank themselves, rather than letting you set it up. Not sure why, but it did mean that my application online on June 17th was only just early enough to get my first payment set up in time for July 1st.

I'd be interested to know when that will arrive. What is the sending bank?
