There is a for sale / let sign outside, the building is being trashed by local yobs, and the building looks very empty to me.

Sideyman the company St Andrew Glass & Glazing has Ronald & gillian Cameron registered as the directors. I hope this is the same company, although St. Andrews Glass is still a registered trading company at the moment. And i hope the staff who worked for them have good luck at their employment tribunial... These conmen need to be stopped its people like them that make it harder for people to trust small companies who are trying to run legitamate businesses0

Hi, I just had a telemarketing call from a company representing 'St. Andrews Home Improvements'. Is this St. Andrews Glass risen from the ashes? My sister had a conservatory build from them before they went down the tubes and they made an absolute dog's dinner of the whole job. She phoned them every single day for months to get the snagging list done (incorrect venting/flashing/electrical works) and they never completed the work prior to their eventual liquidation. She had also given them a deposit for a porch she wanted built and lost that too. So if this company (SAHI) is a re-incarnation of SAG I would not touch them with a long pole. Which is what I told them to do just now. :cool:0

Yes it's St Andrews in another form. Simon sold the name to Weatherseal and it's a subsidiary of theirs. The marketing scam works on the lines of the 3 companies involved - Penicuik, Weatherseal and St Andrews with St Andrews being the "trade" or "budget" windows supplier. If one of them doesn't get you the other one will. Beware.0

Just scanned through this thread and found it interesting reading.
Have to agree with groundhogdaze my feeling is that weatherseal is doing some sales scam involving the name St Andrews Glass.
My story is that we were considering some home improvements and wanted to get some quotes for a conservatory. No commitment just some idea of prices. I filled out some details on a comparison website, cheapconservatories.com and almost immediately was called by weatherseal closely followed by 2 other companies one being St Andrews glass to arrange an appointment. Saw the Weatherseal salesman who, over the course of 2hrs, practiced his pressure selling technique (sign up today and we'll discount the price by £3K) but barely mentioned a conservatory. We didn't fall for it as wanted to get some more quotes. The next company (can't remember the name now but maybe part of this scam) called to confirm the time of the appointment and then failed to show (very annoying). It was St Andrews Glass' turn this morning. They called 1 1/2 hours before appointment to confirm time and then once again failed to show. Exactly 1 hour after appointment time who should phone? None other than weatherseal asking if they could discount the price if we'll sign up with them today.
It's all just a silly game and I've not time for it. If I had any thought of going with Weatherseal before (which I didn't) I'm certainly not going to now. I don't like companies that carry out underhanded tactics like this. I just want a fair quote and at the very least know what I'm going to get for my money before I sign up for anything.
After rereading I appreciate this is more a rant about Weatherseal's sales tactics but felt it might be an important thing to add to the thread.0
