How long do your boy's school shoes last !

Far too quickly. With 2 boys aged 12 and 15, they are usually going through a pair a term each. Tried the expensive ones but they were not any better, so just buy the cheaper ones. Have found that the more trainer like you can get away with, the longer they seem to last.0

My DS (11) only wears trainers but has had about 5 pairs this year. I started off buying him cheap ones but I think this is a false economy as the quality is inferior. I now buy him more expensive trainers and I think they're holding out better.:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0

I buy clarkes and my son who is in reception has had his since September. They still look like new. He's not a very boisterous child though and prefers playing with his lego to rough and tumble. My youngest (4) has also had his clarkes for the same amount of time and he is boisterous. His are scuffed on the top but no holes in the sole etc.
They'll both need new shoes in september as they've just been measured at clarkes for sandals and are moving up a size. However, there school shoes will last another month until the end of term (neither of them complain about and discomfort) or they can wear their sandals.
Price wise - it costs me £35 for school shoes from clarkes, £27 for sandals. If your son isnt outgrowing them then I'd say you'd be better off buying him a sturdy pair that will last and provide better comfort then several cheaper pairs. I think its worth buying clarkes for the quality of fit and materials.MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

I buy clarks for my son (year 2) and he has had the current pair since start of school in sept - i usually buy them in the sale/outlet store and have always been happy with them and they seem to last the course!
His current pair were £20 at the outlet store @ clarks village.0 -
my eldest can usually stay in a pair of clarkes shoes for the whole school year - he doesn't grow very fast.
it's rare i can find shoes to fit him elsewhere but i once bought £14 asda leather shoes and they were awful - holes in the soles and coming apart around the toe. i had to buy replacement shoes in the same size anyway, so the cheap shoes were false economy. but i have bought £10 shoes from 'stead and simpson' and they lasted the year so it does depend on where you are buying the cheap shoes i think.
the clarkes shoes looked better though - they don't 'collapse into a heap' like the cheap shoes did, and still retained their shape after 6-9 months wear.
perhaps if he grew quickly i wouldn't consider the cheap shoes to be false economy, if the replacement pair were actually in a bigger size than the ruined ones.'bad mothers club' member 13

Mine always have Clarks (massively wide feet!) and big son's lasted well over a year this time. I suppose his growth has slowed down a bit now he's nearly 8.
They looked pretty awful by the end, scuffed and with one of the velcro strap things absolutely threadbare but we kept going into the shoe shop to be told they still fitted.
I find using them as scooter brakes is not a good idea....

We are on pair 3 since September, all bought at Clarks outlet, son in yr 3. Each time I've had to buy new though he has gone up a shoe size, so I would have been buying anyway.0

Ds has had the same pair since he started school in August, this is his first year at school. I bought Clarks I think they were about £34 I have been really pleased with them as he is quite a boisterous little boy and he also wears them to his after school and he is always playing football/climbing there. They have got some scuff marks but when I polish these they come up fine, the sole is now starting to wear down but they will definitely last the school year (only 3 weeks left).0

If I buy from Clarks or Next a pair will last him a year.
If I buy from M & S they will be lucky to last a term.0
