Can we get this into some sort of perspective?

No one tried to 'rob' the OP, the till was wrong, and when the OP advised the store, they refunded her.

What did she expect - compensation? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Compensation......no...........67p......yes!! :rotfl:

Has Tesco changed its 'double the difference' policy?

Under that, you should have received a refund of £1.34 (2 x 67p).

Yes they have Crabman - I think it got changed because people were taking advantage of it or it was proving very costly for Tesco!

This has been brought up so many times. Supermarket retail has amongst the lowest profit margins you'll find out of any industry ranging from 3% to 5% profit.

It's extremely cheap to start with anyway. I doubt mistakes make anything 9 times out of 10 people check then they'll either correct it or take the label down.

Exactly, I remember doing case studies in accountancy lectures. Purely going by the figures if it was any other industry their profit ratios would be the sign of a seriously failing business but the turnover is so frequent in the supermarket sector that ultra low profit margins are sustainable and make them an exception to the general rule.

Why hide what you're doing? I use a pocket calculator when I do my shopping

Cos I always have my mobile phone with me wherever I go, I don't possess a calculator.

And of course there is my "street cred"....................................:o

Tesoc havent changed their DTD policy. If they tell you they have or try to get out of paying you double, THEY are at it.

It tells you of the DTD policy on a blue sign behind the CS desk

    Yep your right,

Take a look at this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=330596
You should have got double your overcharge back.

It seems that TESCO staff only "remember" the policy when you point to the huge sign behind them...

Thanks for that info, I'll check if my store have that notice! I know when I've told CS about mistakes in the past I've got double the money back.......but that's going back well over a year ago. I thought I'd read it in the paper about Tesco stopping the double your money back policy but I must be wrong.........I know the woman on CS didn't write on my receipt how much she'd refunded me, so I can't really tell them they owe me another 67p!

The moral of the story is to check your receipts AND any signs at Customer Services!

Being a tight wad I've always checked my receipts. OH always passes me the bill in a restaurant to check it too.

Restaurants are bigger culprits than supermarkets for over charging you.
