I bought a 7 packets bag of McVities mini cheddars from Tesco today, price 67p and there was a BOGOF offer on them (hurrah!) .......but when I checked my receipt after paying my bill, they'd charged me for 2 packs and hadn't knocked 67p off  I went to Customer Services and got 70p back so I made a profit :j ........so check your receipts and make sure everything's correct!

Good advice Scarlett - I do usually have a quick glance to check the BOGOFs are there, plus the extra points for using my own bags. I often find the w/e cashier kids forget those!Resolution:

3p for almost robbing 67p off you is quite tight.
Your quite right though, i always check before leaving the supermarket.

Can we get this into some sort of perspective?
No one tried to 'rob' the OP, the till was wrong, and when the OP advised the store, they refunded her.
What did she expect - compensation? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:Gone ... or have I?0 -
Has Tesco changed its 'double the difference' policy?
Under that, you should have received a refund of £1.34 (2 x 67p).0 -

Yes!
I often wonder how much extra profit 'their tills' make them over a year.

As I walk round my local supermarket I have my mobile phone on "calculator" and add everything up as I walk around, rounding up for veg etc. It looks like I'm texting so no one knows I am adding every penny (I'm on a tight budget), I find I shop so much more carefully if I know where every penny is going. Also when you come to the checkout your bill will be more or less the same, if not, you will know to check receipt. Having said that, I nearly always check my receipt with a quick glance as I walk out, saves me having to come back to the shop (as I have to borrow a car to go to shop).KEEP CALM AND keep taking the tablets :cool2:0

This has been brought up so many times. Supermarket retail has amongst the lowest profit margins you'll find out of any industry ranging from 3% to 5% profit.
It's extremely cheap to start with anyway. I doubt mistakes make anything 9 times out of 10 people check then they'll either correct it or take the label down.0 -

Why hide what you're doing? I use a pocket calculator when I do my shopping0 -
Hi, I used to work for Tesco, until two years ago, and after my shift once a week i would do the shopping and my husband would pick me up when i was just leaving the checkout. I would be very tired by this time as we all would be, and just wanting to be home stuff put away, and sitting down with a cuppa. I happened to look at the receipt while waiting on him, and discovered mistakes had been made several times so i had to go up the c/s and stand in another queue (busy night) and got my money back, or i would have had to go the whole way home and come out again, with my hubby as i don't drive. I always checked my receipts after that as no matter how tired i felt, it had to be done. I sometimes see the staff chatting away to another worker without paying much attention to what they are scanning, not all staff but a few have done this and not just in Tesco it can be anywhere. So everyone check your receipts
There are lovely people on checkouts too who can be helpful:) so i am not having a go at everyone:)
Do a little kindness every day.;)0
