That'd be Shirley Conran, aka Superwoman. I suppose she doesn't work 9-5 thoughThree years, six months, three weeks, 13 hours, 48 minutes and 30 seconds. 26011 cigarettes not smoked, saving $11,704.80. Life saved: 12 weeks, 6 days, 7 hours, 35 minutes.0 -
Larmy - next time you're chopping onions (and mushrooms) do extra. lay them on a baking sheet, freeze then pop in a resealable placcy bag and you have frozen onions and mushrooms ready and at a fraction of the price. Takes not much tijjme at all, especially if you have a leccy chopper thingy
(note to self - make more chopped onions ready to freeze tonight)

A little bit off the subject but had to post this one. Husband went in to Little Chef for a breakfast one day. His colleague had the fry up including egg - husband wanted omelette. Told he could not have an omelette. When he asked why because they obviously had eggs to fry - told that omelettes came pre-prepared and filled. "Cook" not able to do one!!!!0

Somebody said that it won't be long until you can buy ready made frozen cheese on toast, well you can buy frozen toasted cheese sandwiches already from McCains!
Edited to add: Oops Sparklewing has said about this (sorry sparklewing) - teach me to read the whole thread in future!0 -
I do buy the fresh lasagne from aldi as the ingredients are proper things....tomatoes, pasta, cheese, mince. It is not worth the time and effort to make it myself. The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0

If you do go down the ready meal route you might be interested in this taste test (the only ready meals to get 5 stars (out of 5) were Waitrose and M&S Lasagnes: http://observer.guardian.co.uk/print/0,3858,5210993-108294,00.html"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

not sure if they have been mentioned as this thread is huge! I read most of it though and got a few laughs! teehee
-Pre - grated or sliced cheese really irritates me..
-As do the 'apple wedges' they charge 60p or so for in Boots..just buy an apple for less than 10p! (though most amusing is where it says on the back..'ingredients: apple .' heheeh)
-The fact that Sainsburys charge almost 50p more for the same pack of green beans, just already 'trimmed'
-And i cannot abide any form of 'instant noodle' ..noodles are already essentially instant, just need a couple of minutes in boiling water, you can even do it with a kettle if needs be and then add your own seasoning instead of the nasty little sachet they provide.
though I must admit to buying bags of ice..we have a chest freezer so it's impossible to make in trays.Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0 -
Oh and have to put in a mention for my old flatmates who would fill the fridge at the weekend with m&s ready salads, fruit salads, sandwiches etc, then spend every evening in front of the tv moaning about how broke they were..grr.. their 'food cupboard' consisted of a box of tea and a jar of mayonaisse.Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0
