can my ex cancel my holiday ???

hi I will try to make this easy to understand, and of course I will call the travel agent tomorrow, but could do with some advice in the meantime....

my partner and i booked a week in corfu for the 20 th june 08 it is all paid up on his card, I paid him my half in cash, for myself and my daughter.

well 3 weeks ago he decided to leave me, so I managed to change his ticket so my mum could come with us , i am now the lead person on the bbooking so he cant change those details BUT he paid the holiday on one of his cards (dont know which one) can he cancel the payment?? this really is worrying me as my daughter is so excited about going, its just that he is getting quite nasty and has mentioned that he can cancel the payment.
any help would be great.

we have the tickets, they arrived yesterday, so fingers crossed

thank you in advance for your help
My aim for 2009 is to SAVE not spend. my aim for jan is to have £400 by 30th jan...... here goes! total so far. £30;)

I really don't think he can, the holiday company won't want to give the money back to the CC company & you are the lead name.

If you are worried, why don't you call them & ask. You could even save you didn't have enough credit limit on your card, so he put it on his card & you gave him the cash.
  • thank you mrs E , yes of course I will call tomorrow but they dont open until 9 and I am panicking tonight lol, I dont have a credit card which is why he paid by his card and i gave him the cash (we have always done everything this way) , I thought nothing of it,as I trusted him completely but then 3 weeks ago I didnt expect him to do the dirty on me , I just thought maybe some others may have had a similar experience??
    xx

I think only the lead name can do anything, so stop worrying.

If you can't call them now to find out anything, NEITHER can he.

But perhaps you should ring & say you have a vindictive ex who said he is going to get his sister to ring up & cancle your hol, maybe they can put a password or some kind of note, not allowing changes.

I don't think you need to worry. If the holiday was cancelled at this late stage, there wouldn't be a refund anyway. He can't ask the CC company to cancel the payment unless fraud was involved, which it wasn't.

Also he has presumably cooperated in getting his ticket switched to your mum's name?

He is just being a swine. Try not to worry. By all means phone the travel agent tomorrow and explain the situation, but I don't think you have anything to worry about.

  • well , thats actually true, his sister has tried a few nasty tricks this week ,
with regards to the holiday I am the lead so I know he cant change that ,(will ask about the password) what I meant is can he call his credit card and say he wants the payments back?? im not sure how credit cards work xx

No. He can't call the credit card company and ask for the payment back. The only way he could do that is if he could say that the payment was fraudulently made without his knowledge or consent - say his card details were stolen and used to book a holiday on the internet without his knowledge. That isn't what has happened though. The CC wouldn't give him the payment back in these circumstances.

  • thank you for your replies , he made the payments over the phone and also changed himself from the lead over to me over the phone, it was all legal lol, so I can calm down now , I will just call the travel agent to confirm and make sure there is no way he can upset things for us . xx
