Well I've jumped in with both feet and instructed Lloyds to send 8p to First Direct. It doesn't look like it will be a Faster Payment however as it is stated to leave only tomorrow. That said, it might arrive instantly when it leaves, but I was under the impression that Lloyds were intending to introduce 'same day [as requested]' features on the account rather than sticking to scheduled payments as now

(Does anyone have any information about that aspect?)

Just to update - my payment left this morning and has already credited to First Direct - so Faster Payments do appear to be working from Lloyds TSB - albeit with a day's delay to leave the account.
.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam

Well I spoke to CS yesterday and they said that they were doing faster payments but it depends on whether the sort code of the account being credited accepts faster payments. (?)

Anyway I came across this web site which can tell you if sort code will accept faster payments.

I'm assuming that the delay on the Lloyds payment is because of LLoyds' cut off time for same day transactions.

What they told me today seemed to indicate that they are having problems with their software.

Payments were being duplicated and they had to turn of the facility to make Faster Payments to many Banks capable of handling them !!

    They reverted to BACS payments.
  • i done a 1pound payment to coventry building soiety yesterday, and it is there today, so it takes 1 day to transfer the money.

ive got a standing order from my classic plus current account to my 8% regular saver the standing order is set up for the 17th, but surely now i could change the payment for tommorow and it should come out?

am i right? thanks in advance.

That's via BACS, ie the old system, which always arrives the day after it leaves your LTSB account.

I don't follow. An SO from one LTSB account to another is always instant, so whatever day you set it for, it will arrive in the Regular Saver instantaneously. Nothing has changed.

in my case i sent the request from lloyds to FD yesterday and it still hasnt gone through even though they told me on monday that it would be up and running on wednesday - alternatively when sending from FD to lloyds it is instant- i have seen other posts also saying that FTP have not worked from lloyds
BACS- seems to be arriving on the second working day after the request is made
seems like people are having different experiences

They told me that because of the problems they were having they were only sending FPs to some of the Banks / Building societies capable of receiving them.

This is why you are having different experiences !!!

    It's wonderfully clear (NOT) :D

Right guys I am now right royally confused as different LLoyds people seem to be saying different things, lol!

Basically when I have rung up CS they have said that Lloyds are processing faster payments when the payments are made by internet (btw it seems that if you make the payment after 3.30pm it goes the next day) but someone in the branch said that it was only if the payment was carried out by telephone banking.

    Confused ....I know I am!

update - just transferred some money to FD via telephone banking and the operator said it would go through within 2 hours - infact took a few seconds - she didnt know why this was not happening when i transferred by internet (i explained it was taking 2 working days) and said maybe the receiving bank was not on the new system but i explained that FD were - anyway at least managed to transfer some money via the FPS
