All you need is some white card blanks and something to stick on the front, It doesn't need to be posh and fancy.. Mine have a jeweled butterfly (Bought from malaysia via aBay) stuck on some coloured hand made paper (was going to just use some old wallpaper I had lying around though) and a die cut underneath that either says Wedding or Evening invite depending on who it's for.. I also added some heat embossing up the side but they would of been fine without it....
If you're not that confident just keep it simple.A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I think you're the third 230509 bride around here at the moment!
I agree with the keeping it simple, unless you do what I did and get engaged to someone who went to art school... Sticking little bits of handmade paper can look nice too, or little swatches of ribbon. Or how about buying a rubber stamp and that can then be the image for the day, you could use it on other stationery.Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

We have done two different invites. To keep costs down we are having about 20 people for the day. Registry office and a sit down meal. Then loads more for an evening reception.
The evening invites are nice and quick to do, its just the sticking that takes time. Also using double sided tape is better than using glue. Glue tends to make the paper soggy and looks horrible.
Before you start making invites do a list of everyone you are inviting and work out how many invites you actually need. Not everyone will need one most people will be couples.
I would post some pics but photobucket is being slow and realllllllly useless at the moment!
Here they are
Out of the other side of the hear there will be the arrow with flights on. But they will be a bit fragile so i will do that just before we have to send them out.

Hi,
Your invites are lovely! :T
I made my own too I agree the double sided tape is the best invention in the world!
I also found some nice wallpaper in B&Q which matched the bridesmaid dresses and I kept going in for free samples, eventually bought some tho as felt a bit cheeky! It was £22 a roll so it is worth free samples if you are not easily embarrassed!! Posh paper in Hobbycraft etc was really expensive.
One of my friends mums had a guillotine which scored the card, this was useful and also a blade for cutting the card.
I spent some time at a wedding fayre looking at handmade cards and then made a mock up when I got home.
Good luck[0 -
Ooh also I got my replies back quickly because I put in a reply slip and a little envelope with an address label on it all they had to do was tick and put a stamp on.
Envelopes are really cheap in Wilko's.[0 -
I make cards and did my invites - couple of things i will say is don't buy card blanks if you have some way of cutting the card in half get A4 card and fold it as its cheaper
Also depending on how many you are making do a few at a time as i got a bit fed up as did mine in a short time - made 64
My invites were 3 fold like jem8472 in lilac with a ribbon either side and tied to hold together, then i stuck our initials in silver on the front (these came from ebay at 2p each)
Inside i printed the words and put 2 seperate sheets inside with details of how to get to reception and present list0 -
Yes I would def suggest starting them early because it does get boring quickly. So its always to do them in small bursts. Good for rainy days.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090

i've made our invites and did go overboard as i'm a crafter anyway, but they were still loads cheaper than we would have had to pay for shop made ones, and much nicer. I've also included RSVP's with the menu options on the back, i having included an envelope though as i'm sure people will have one somewhere.
As has been said above getting a nice stamp and using that at a theme for the wedding really works, also wrapping paper can make lovely backing paper if you can get something you like.
Have to agree though, double sided tape is the best thing ever, very quick and not messy0 -
I didn;t make mine - we got them from Vistaprint which was pretty cheap and very good quality.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
