I just wanted to add a positive UK Assistance story as there seem to be a lot of negative ones. After a fire at my house (on a bank holiday) last year, a rep from UK Assistance came out 3 days later and the claim was settled within 2 weeks. The guy was really helpful and understanding and I had no problems with contacting him. He even allowed me to add items on that I had forgotten!Happy, Happy, Happy!0

I am surprised that reputable mortgage lenders use UK Assistance as their Insurance Advisors!!! What a shambles of a support service they are!! Having contacted our mortgage lenders (that we have been with for over 20 years - Loyal customers!) we were advised that UK Assistance would contact us within 48 hours to arrange a home visit - ha ha ha ha - yeah right - one week later I was still phoning THEM to arrange for SOMEONE, just ANYONE, to come and see the damage that the leak in our bathroom had done. When they did eventually send someone - WHAT A B****Y waste of time - they quoted us £4,000 less than we had been quoted, even by British Gas, to repair and make good!!!! The woman that visited was exceptionally rude and would not even discuss the quote we had been given - which we had been advised by the mortgage lender to get in advance of UK Assistance visiting so that we could discuss it with them!!! It's interesteing to read others have the same low opinion of UK Assistance - I for one won't be recommending them in any of my business circles!!0

Uk assistance are currently writing to me saying that I haven't paid the £175 excess for a job I had done 18 months ago and asking me to prove I have paid it or pay up. They asked me to collect the car when only half the job had been done so I had a wasted journey but even so when it was actually finished it was all paid for with no complaints from me about being mucked around.
I have rung once but have received the same demand letter today so a strong letter to head office and customer service will be winging its way to them.I will also be letting direct line know as it is them that use them for insurance jobs.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr0 -
I myself is a Loss Assessor. UK Assistance is the worst company to deal with. Policy holders be careful to act smart when dealing with these guys. They are not Loss adjusters and they just there to keep the claim amount low and push their own contractors to do a cowboy job on your property. You will have no traceability and transparency when dealing with them. After their inspection you cannot approach them directly.0

I googled UK Assistance for a contact number to follow up on a fire they were involved in assessing for Direct Line in August last year, and found this thread.
Their assessor has been FANTASTIC and although the builders he appointed to either carry out the repair work or sub-contract it were useless numpties, the service from UK Assistance, or him at least, has been brilliant. No quibbles about replacing two large sofas which faded when cleaned as part of the renovations, replacing "smoke damaged" fridge and freezer or when we (two adults, two teenage kids) asked to stay in a serviced apartment rather than a Travelodge.
Even now, when we asked for a cheque to replace the "gift card" from Comet (we asked before they went bust) we were given to replace the white goods over a year later, they have been great.
So it's not all bad.0 -
Avoid them at all cost. Tell your insurance company
you want to go to another garage. They had my car for 3 weeks for a minor repair. The paint job started flaking after 3 months!
BUT WORST of all the car when in with 60 miles of fuel (re computer) it came back with
miles i.e less than ZERO. EVEN WORSE it had average 9mpg yes nine miles per gallon its a sport car but i get around 18mpg they had obviously been 'joy riding' in my car. The worst place. Avoid !!!!0 -
my car a renault scenic, was hit by another car causing off side panal damamge and a smashed alloy wheel. the car then started to go crazy with the on board computer and lights and windows on off. Direct Line phoned me to say a company called uk assistance would be coming to pick the vehicle up and repair it.
i pointed out to the driver (who came with truck to collect my car) that there is a major electrical problem , to which he could not start my car and when he put key card in the windows start going up and down without being activated, he wrote on the report sheet ,elelctrical fault.
after 3 weeks my car was returned by transporter to my home with UK Assistance prior phoning me to say all repairs had been done and nothing was wrong with the elctrical system.
next i get in car and it would not start, (because of accident and time in repair shop mot had exspired) i got rac out, their enginner said no power going to starter motor, so he and a few locals help me bump start it so i could get to mot station.
has i got engine running ,the on board computer was flashing STEERING FAULT, so i parked it back up and phoned UK ASSISTANCE. they sent out a engineer out to inspect the car.
HE could not start it of a booster and even tried just leads of his vehicle, he then said has for as UK Assistance the repairs was done there was no electric problems when they inspected the car. it funny but there has never been a problem or breakdown before with my car, plus i noticed they had been messing about with the window wipes ,front was not in sink, blades going off screen, plus rear wiper blade fell off.
i phoned Direct line to complain and was being spoken too like a child and told that an accident of panal damage would not effect any electrics, yet the impact was on the smashed and shattered alloy wheel, i also told him that the on board computer was going crazy stating BREAK FAULT and AIRBAGS ACTIVATED and lights flashing on off etc, and why was i unable to start the car and get error message of steering fault.
im now in contact with my local trading standards, ill update any further developments.0 -
it is now 57 days since my accident and still my car is not fixed its lying at renault wton. uk assistance cheeply repaired my car but failed and lied to reset the on board computer. more updates will follow.0
