It more than makes up for it. STRers have been renting a nice house, more than paid for by the interest in the bank while the scramblers to buy are paying interest on a large loan and now have a house that is worth significantly less than the loan is!
That interest in the bank has performed well and when said Sell to renters re-enter the market at realistic (read normal) prices they will not even need much of a mortgage if any. Now who missed the nice decade again?>0 -

What interest? They will struggle to get back on board now there are no new mortgages out there.
perhaps they fixed their rates at 7% or so before the cuts in interest rates?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
