It's just a box. A box they are asking £399,500 for.
I'd find it shockingly expensive even at £200,000. Come the crash I expect my own 4 bedroom detached in quite a plush area for that money.
It's Portsmouth Harbour well placed to ride out the recession/depression? I've read that cruisers like the one pictured in the harbour are having a price crash of their own, given high fuel costs and the squeeze for owners elsewhere.0 -

Not too long ago that was a million Aussie dollars! Even now it's not too much less.
For the price of a quite nice 2 bedder in a dock town you could buy a lovely Queenslander a few minutes from the beach in a small QLD town and have enough capital left over that all you'd need would be a hobby job; not even that if you're frugal.
This is the real disconnect I feel I have with my fellow man (or woman Reg*) or woman is that many people in England seem to feel this desperate need to borrow to the hilt to own some shoebox in a place that they don't really want to live in just to be on the property ladder.

I would agree with this.
You used to be able to take the p!ss and market your house for 50K more then next door went for a few weeks earlier - and guaranteed that some mug would snap it up.
These p!ss taking days are now over and you are forced to sell more realistically.0 -
Fed up with exaggerated talk of falling house prices?
We have the answer. A house price GUARANTEE !

[/FONT]Sorry I cannot do the graphics of children, fields, butterflies, and happy couples jumping the rainbow, but the above text takes up about 20% of a two page spread.
About half of the 2 pages, purchased in the local property supplement, consists of 26 boxes offering a property.
Each has a corner flash with its key selling point. 12 of 26 read "REDUCED".
There is a splattering of other options such as New Instruction & House Price Guarantee.

[I don't normally post pornography on a family forum like this,
BUT I do wonder what some impressionable young person in a Muslim country,
with an average wage rate of 25 pence per hour, might do when exposed to
stuff like this - get a mortgage on a flat in Dubai perhaps?]0 -

(beware of this latter one, like all pornography sites approach with care, I tried "gallery" for some live action and it crashed my Firefox browser - does it look like "Krusty's" kid sister?)0 -
