A Day Lily?
That is a nice variety - I have yellow ones doing very well and regularly needing split but the colour on that one is superb. Any idea what type it is?0 -
Hello, I've just moved into a new house and I have this spiky tree/plant thing in my garden. It's the thing in this picture on the right hand side that looks like the top of a pineapple. I wanted to research how to look after it as it's going brown on the underside but I don't know what it actually is! Any input would be much appreciated!

It looks like it could be from the yucca family. I had one many moons ago but can't remember much about it. Type it into a search engine and have a look.Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!0

Cordyline?0

Thanks Serena I'm sure that's what it is! I know it's not a vinca, the flowers are tiny, more like individual alyssum sized.
I'll have a look in the garden centre now I have a name for it.:)
It's only a game

Or a phormium (New Zealand flax)0

It might be going brown underneath because of frost damage. My Cordyline all succumbed to the frost this year, the last one only died about four weeks ago, but they were about half the size of that, and that's what tey looked like, brown from the bottom up. I'd say it's definitely a Cordyline or Phormium. Got a picture of the trunk? It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your window

My 2 cordylines had to get cut back to the ground they were well and truly gone, hope they might grow back, a lot of peoples got damaged over winter I think.Ahhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!0

It looks like a Cordyline australis or Torbay palm. The underleaves go brown and then stay that way till they fall off (can be days or several years). As they fall off the trunk of the plant grows. It will eventually turn into a tree.

There are actually 2 mystery plants growing in my garden. The 1st 4 pics are the same one and the last 2 of a different one.
