Could be a morning glory, does it look like a vine?
Good sugestion, it was definatly not a vine, probably about 18-24" high, in a big drift, Could not tell if it was an annual, biennial or herbacious perenial, however it appeared that all the growth was new (ie no woody stems) and the lady said it was there every year (? could be perennial or self seeding)
The flowers do look abit like morning glory dont they, I think thats probably why I think it might be poisonous. (that and the unusual black markings on the stem)
The blue flowers were much smaller than morning glory, about 2 or 3cm across as I remember, and the 'lantern' type seed pod is a real spanner in the works!0 -
This is a tough call as I have a tomato with identical leaves to this (a black russian) but I don't think the flowers are white. I will double check tomorrow when I go down to the greenhouse.
The structure of the plant and fruit says to me it's more likely to be tomato than potato, but it's not a mistake I'd like to make as fruit from the potato plants are poisonous!!!
The only way to know for sure would be to have a feel around in the soil and see if you can find any potatoes growing

Aubergines usually have pink/lilac coloured flowers and are nothing like these, IME. I've checked my tomato today and it does have yellow flowers, like all other tomato plants so I'm more inclined to believe this is a potato.
As I said earlier, the only way to confirm this would be to check to see if there are any potatoes growing from the roots
I certainly wouldn't risk eating the fruit from this plant without a very positive ID as they could be extremely poisonous.
PS I don't suppose you could replace this photo with a smaller one please? It makes the thread incredibly difficult to read when you need to scroll sideways
