A note to all....always transfer your paypal money into your bank account first before using your credit card to make a payment through Paypal.
I hope you can sort this out and reclaim the full amount.

Even gives me the home addresses of the directors- but obviously I cannot give these details over lol.
Why not? They are a matter of public record and can be obtained by anybody from Companies House.

If the delivery company is not one of the known companies such as Royal Mail, Parcel Force etc, then PayPal will end the dispute on your behalf. If the tracking number they have given is false e.g 0000000, then PayPal will end the dispute in your favor.

There's nothing to worry about. In 2 days time, PayPal will investigate, realise whats happened and end the dispute in your favor. PayPal usually take 3-5 days to review the dispute once those 2 days are up. I've just had a dispute end in my favor, after a seller tried giving a 'Receipt number' as a tracking number. PayPal clocked on and immediately gave me my money back.

Thanks for your replies - well, this one just gets more bizarre by the minute!

I phoned the number last night, and surprisingly someone answered, who then gave me the number of their Rugby branch i.e. Furniture For You (Rugby) Ltd. I phoned that number up, and spoke to the chap I am dealing with, who says my furniture will arrive today.

So it seems I'm dealing with Furniture For You (Rugby) Ltd, although everything I've seen so far has indicated I was dealing with Furniture For You Ltd. Perhaps all is not lost, but I will wait to see if the furniture arrives before closing Paypal and CC disputes.

Thanks - I'd noticed that had happened the other day.

Was told my furniture would arrive "yesterday or today", only to be told today that it will arrive next Wednesday.

Yeah right... time to take some action this weekend.

Thanks for all your help guys.

Just a thought... but in my former life as an accountant I was taught that it's a criminal offense for the directors to continue to receive monies from customers if they knew that there was no real likelihood of them being able to fulfil their side of the bargain (i.e. liquidation).

    "WRONGFUL TRADING

Applied to companies in liquidation where a director allowed the company to continue trading in circumstances where he should have concluded that there was no reasonable prospect that the company would avoid going into solvent liquidation. The directors involved may be made personally liable to make a contribution to the company's assets."

Something it might be handy to know. Especially seeing as you can get hold of the director's address.

Neko, you're absolutely right. The only technicality is that the old company may have had a different director i.e. a brother / other member of the family, than compared to the new company. Therefore the new company, with a new director, could legally trade.

Either way, the credit card company, Paypal, myself and (soon) the police will be looking into this.

If anyone could help me get the directors names and addresses i.e. how to do this (I couldn't see on Companies House), that would be much appreciated.

I have this info (addresses for directors) but as you can imagine, I would rather not post these on a public forum. Plus I do not know the laws regarding the giving out of this info.
