Are you certain the company name is not

    FURNITURE FOR YOU (RUGBY) LIMITED
    Registered number: 06574303

The registered address of this company is in Warwickshire. This company is not in liquidation.

As theatretony correctly said, the company FURNITURE FOR YOU LIMITED is in liquidation. This has reg. no. 04567976 but has a current registered address in Sheffield.

You just beat me to it. I think it must be Furniture For You (Rugby) Limited - but whilst the previous post matched on the phone number, it doesn't on the address.

Have you tried getting in touch with the courier?

Yes - they have a web site with an email address, and that's it :(

But if you paid with a credit card they will do a dispute thingy for you.
Just contact them - phone is probably the easiest (though it may be a premium rate no.) and tell them the problem. they will then probably ask you to write to them with details, any written info/emails from the company and they should refund your card while they open a dispute with the company.
I had a problem with rugby tickets bought from a company based in spain. They were refusing to answer emails so I contacted my card company and I was refunded the money.
Worth a try don't you think?

The other one (Rugby) had a change of name on the 25/04/2008. Which I assume was to Furniture For You (Rugby) Ltd. The directors of this company are actually company names themselves (Company Directors Ltd). So getting more bizzare!!!

I'm not so sure now. Furniture For You Limited were also based in Warwickshire. :(

Thanks for that - most useful.

I think the company I am dealing with is Furniture For You (Rugby) Ltd, because enough of the details appear to match up i.e. the phone number and most of the address i.e. based in Warwick. Also the recent name change to them means that I may have an out of date name.

But the out of date name worries me - Furniture For You Ltd are in liquidation. If the company I am dealing with used to have that name, and have changed, why on earth did they do that, and should this too make me worried?

I think the only answer is to contact my credit card company.

Because I paid part from my Paypal balance, part from credit card, will the credit card company deal with the credit card bit of the payment? If so, I will just have to hope that Paypal decide in my favour and are able to recover enough monies (I paid around £200 from Paypal balance, £240 from CC).

Thanks for your help so far guys, it's much appreciated.

That is definately them - but I have a different address, and we think that the company name may have changed.

It's just all bloody fishy, I'd wished I'd double checked all of this before purchasing - yet their feedback seemed to be great up until they were taken off eBay :(

Okay, here's how I'm reading it.

They have two stores: 21 Somers Rd, Rugby and Wharf Street, Warwick.

Wharf Street, Warwick has the phone number I have to contact them (but phoning just rings and rings).

Furniture For You (Rugby) Ltd has a Jury Street, Warwick address.
Furniture For You Ltd has a Sheffield address.

    Could it be that:
Furniture For You (Rugby) Ltd is in fact their Rugby store?
Furniture For You Ltd is their Warwick store that's doing a move to Sheffield because of liquidation?

Sorry for the many posts - just to confirm where I've got to.

Furniture For You Ltd has a Sheffield address, because it went into liquidation on 21st May 2008. The Sheffield address are for the voluntarily appointed liquidators.

I remember checking Companies House for this company only the other day, and Furniture For You Ltd had a Warwick address, although I'm not 100% certain of this.

I have contacted my card company with this information, they were very helpful and said that they have sent some forms out for me to read, sign and return, and then they will process and issue a refund to me.

If Paypal can't get hold of any money back from the seller's account, then I'm going to be out of pocket by around £200, but I guess there's nothing else I can do.

What's odd is that they went into voluntary liquidation on the 21st, yet took my payment on the 22nd, whilst still trading on eBay. Is this common practice?

The (Rugby) company was incorporated on 23-Apr-2008 and changed its name to Furniture For You (Rugby) Ltd on 15-May-2008 (original name: SUNROSE TRADING LIMITED)
They are using an accountants address (Edwards Pearson & White) as their registered office - not unusual.

The (corporate) directors of this company is typical of the way a company formation agent would set up a company legally. The directors typically resign on day of incorporation allowing for whoever asked/paid the agent to form the company to elect their own directors. Perhaps the records have not been updated yet regarding who the directors are/will be.

Furniture For You Ltd is a different company, but operated in Warwickshire. They went into liquidation 21-May-2008. There is no record of this company having changed its name since it was incorporated 21-Oct-2002

I wouldn't be surprised if the 2 companies are connected in some way, but unfortunately they are separate legal entities. I suspect you paid Furniture For You Ltd which is now in liquidation.

I suppose what you should be doing is formally lodging your claim with the liquidators

LISA JANE HOGG & CLAIRE LOUISE FOSTER
    WILSON FIELD
    THE ANNEXE
    THE MANOR HOUSE
    260 ECCLESALL ROAD SOUTH SHEFFIELD
    S11 9PS

but of course you'll only get back anything if there is anything left to give back. :(
