I mean you do wash that area while you're on your period don't you? Or do you buy disposable towels too?
Sorry I have to be honest, I use water and soap to wash, and toilet/paper towels (tissues!!) to dry 'that area'!! so YES they are disposable, am afraid!!!:D I like to treat MY 'that area' and so have to stay miles away from that  !!!

And when you say 'shipped to the uk and so incur zero air miles', are you trying to say that they are shipped using camels? or some other sort of fuel !!!!!
In all cases, let's agree to disagree. I am not as keen as you regarding becoming 'green' but good luck to you trying to save the environment by ensuring period blood should end up in a reusable washable ugly pad and then:rolleyes: where does the drain water go???
...btw, do you have a car? :D

Sorry this made me laugh my !!! off.

I am very much in favour of things like this TBH, the Mooncup didnt work for me and I generally dont like wearing towels because it feels like I am wearing a nappy, however I am going to give them a go soon. Call me mad but I just bought one of these... jamsponge.co.uk you have to laugh..these people clearly had a sense of humour when naming them (some people would do well to keep that humour in mind :p ). Guess a lot of people might think I'm weird for shoving a reuseable sea creature up there (is a sponge an ex-creature or a sea-plant???) but I'm out to save money and the planet and I resent the money I spend monthly on sanitary stuff. To me it doesnt seem much more effort for a big planetary gain...means I can do other less-planet-friendly stuff and feel not so guilty, and can spend a little more money on fun stuff.

Of course not everything works for everyone but a lot of people are extremely sceptical about these things when they give them a go (most sites will send a trial pack and ask that you send back the unused towels back and get a refund) and then they loooooove them. With regards to washing them, you rinse or soak them in cold water then washing machine em. They do have some bloody ugly designs though, I'll agree. A lot of people seem to have got into the "disposable is good" idea, which is why a lot of people will find this sort of thing gross, when it was the norm not so long ago. Personally I think disposable is a bit minging when you come across that sort of crap washed into the sea, but each to their own.

I guess its all a matter of what you find gross. I found dealing with mooncup contents minging at first then I got used to it and had a little more respect for my body after. Dont knock it til you've tried it.

But then I am a freak who keeps a small zoo and would rather have a horse than a house.

GOd that was a post and a half. :o

Gosh, just read all the posts and I think I've gone back 20 years to my old gym teacher who used to tell us girls we had to use towels as Tampax were for girls who 'knew too much and would end up going to hell' (Catholic school - very strict). Each to their own please - and please don't preach the 'Eco friendly' as we have no idea how anything is made these days! things don't always come from where they say they do!

Lets go back to having a laugh and giggle eh?

Time for a glass of wine me thinks:T

Nobody is forcing anyone to try it but ignoring the environmental concept is just shutting your eyes. Of course these things arent 100% green, they have to be made, dyed, washed, transported, etc. But that is a hell of a differences from the plastics, papers, dyes, bleaches and everything else in a tampon. Even the organic ones create loads of waste. With a little research it is quite possible to find out how things are made...so long as you avoid the companies that are selling them in order to find out!

I've always fancied trying a mooncup, I've heard great things about them! :)
