Must say i don't find them yucky as such, but I am curious to find out how you wash them. I use cloth nappies on my son, but I just put a whole load in the wash at once about twice a week - I can't imagine that you can do this with these pads. I think the mooncup is the way to go for eco-friendlyness - not that I have one yet. I hate the thought of all those nasty chemicals in disposable pads and tampons messing with my lady bits  .0

. Why don't the clever-heads behind this design an eco-friendly throwaway towel that completely bio-degrades like the carrier bags the co-op use? Just my tuppence-worth. Other than that, as I always say, each to their own!;)
I think it's not just the fact that they are thown away after being used that is the problem. Apparently they also take a whole load of natural resource to make in the first place, wood, oil etc and that some of the chemicals that are used to make them absorbant are really damaging to the environment once they start to break down (I know this is the case with disposable nappies, not sure about pads). I'm going to pluck up the courage and buy a mooncup (wonder why they named it that ???)0 -

I just want to ask what is 'green' ??? in using washing machines, electricity, water, washing up liquids, dryers, etc to clean such a mess, or are we expected to handwash them???. YEAH, RIGHT!
Oh and just imagine the amount of washings that you have to do if you were to 're-use' these things.
Another 'YUCK!' from me! The idea is absolutely sickening.
Well firstly, I use these pads and I have a Mooncup. The pads last for ages unlike disposable pads.
Whilst there may be electricity and water used to wash them, how much electricity, water and chemicals do you think is used in producing disposable pads????
Oh and there's no detergent used here - I use soapnuts which are shipped to the uk so incur zero air miles. After use in the washer they can be used to make liquid multi surface cleaner and then composted. No waste, no chemicals.
They go in the wash - usually with towels...I mean you do wash that area while you're on your period don't you? Or do you buy disposable towels too?0 -

In my defence, I use Mooncup and only mooncup, I don't use towels at all & I think EWWWWWWW!! So there
after the 1st comp to win a moon cup and all the pros and cons involved i took the plunge and got one ive used it now twice (2months)and totaly converted i will never use tampons/pads ever again,
still think you could use this as i duster tho lol :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Replies to posts are always welcome, if they are done in the correct manner. hmmm yeah, but washing implies you are clean when you dry 'that area'not clabbering the towel in 'ewwww' then bunging it in your machine!
