Well good luck to you. by the time i've finished my degree I'll have done 5 years in total, starting right from scratch, I wasn't even upto GCSE level when I went back!.
If you've only just finished your 1st year and you're already planning a MA you must be loving it.
    All the best

I really enjoy it Sally, but I was in the same boat as you. When I had my first dd (she is 4) I did a GCSE in Maths, then the following year did a GCSE in English and found out I was pregnant with dd2 and was due to give birth to her before my final exams. I still managed to get an A don't know how. Then I progressed on to the access and now uni. So it will be 8 years of study!
  • Hey!

I want to go on to do social work at Uni! :D I'm about to do a Diploma in Health and Social care, which takes two years then I can go to uni!

But I've never heard of the Acsess course? How long does it take to complete? and is it a good course to take? I might think about changing if it leads to the same uni course i wanna do?

    :) Thanks guys.
  • Access takes a year full time (12 hours usually a week) and part time is 2 years.

The access course really prepared me for uni and I did get alot out of it.

Personally I think an access course is the best way to prepare for uni. It's a fantastic course to take.

I did it over 1 year, but I had my GCSE English, only needed my maths, however, if you need your English and Maths then they'll advise you do it over 2 years becasue it's a lot of work. Of course if you don't need them then 1 year is the quickest way. I do know that most uni's ( for SW degree)requires a min of GCSE math and it's always good to have some experience in the form of volunteer work.

  • Driving soon you should go to your connexions centre for advice on this, some unis do a four year course with a foundation year affiliated to a college, There are probably courses in social work this way also, worth a shot, it is similar to an access course (probably as intense) but may be worth looking into as well
