Broadband + Phone

Hello!

Just looking around and I can see lots of nice info and opnions on phone providers and lots on broadband but I was looking for some views on the best phone AND broadband combined package.

The best I can find is tiscali which is £19.99 a month - for that you get 1 mg of Broadband, unlimited monthly useage, free calls to all landlines (apart from 0870 etc.) It seems very good. You are tied in for 12 months but I presume they can't hike the prices up then.

Currently I'm with BT Broadband paying something like £27 a month for Broadband on own - plus Together 3 etc. so all adds up! I'm hoping the change over will be smooth.

if anyone can offer their views and opinions I would be greatful. We have 3 PCs in our house so would need unlimited useage.

Many Thanks!

    - just a warning - i have seen many bad reports on tiscali to do with customer services, billing, and slow speeds

... having not read through the terms - I do not see how they can give unlimited free calls - if you rang someone up for 59 minutes at a time, during peak time - it would cost Tiscali a heck of a lot of money - as they would be making nothing, it just doesn't make sense. Plus Tiscali also have that a fair usage policy applies - which could mean anything pretty much

I know that my current ISP, zazizam, has the same unlimited package for £19.99, 3 month contract, with free weekend calls for upto 60 minutes at a time, 2.7p peak rate, and 5p for upto 60 minutes off peak - Only applies to geographic numbers (01 and 02 numbers), and also cheaper mobile rates also. Plus its only a 3 month contract, and you can migrate in for free also

oooh - thanks for that Is there anyone with Tiscali who can say what their experience of it is?
  • I'm also thinking of changing to that Tiscali package - from Wanadoo where I'm still paying 27.99 for BB only, because I haven't got round to moving. It was a good deal at teh time but that is now some time ago.

I am not sure if Tiscali is the best BB+phone package.

Pipex offer 2meg broadband (capped at 1 GIG per month) without a contract and 500 minutes of free phones calls per month (no pick or off pick rates just 500 minutes). This is all for 14.99 a month, I suspect this is one of the best deals if you don't download movies etc' and you can cope with 8 hours on the phone per month. For me it's working.

for no xtra cost and free install and no download capping.
  • Recently signed up with teso for broadband and phone, £14.99 for broadband 512mb unlimited, £11.99 for phonecalls and £10.50 to BT. £37.48 altogether. Was on BT broadband and Together 3 was £50.50. Saving £13.02 a month for same service.

Do you really need the phonecall option at £11.99? I take it that is for all geographical calls at anytime but its a lot of calls to have to make every month.

Can you swap to Tesco Talk1 and use 1899/18866 for your calls at 3p per call no matter the duration and when the call is made?

    Could http://www.bulldogbroadband.com fit the bill.
They are one of the suppliers who are involved in unbundling the local loop where they provide service from equipment that they install in BT exchanges connected to the copper pair to the house. They do various packages but all have the phone service included. However they have not equipped all areas yet.

Why don't you visit uswitch.com? They do broadband supplier comparison.
I am sure Martins site has a link to uswitch which helps the moneysavingexpert.com site. Or go direct. http://www.uswitch.com

Your right with the description for the phone package, but to get the broadband at £14.99 which now has been upgraded to 1mb I have to take a tesco phone package not sue if i can change to a cheaper package though maybe worth looking into with these 18866 numbers do you have to prefix that to the number you are dialing. May have difficulty in getting the rest of the house to comply with that and may cost more in the long run.
