paypal dispute- how do i refund?

Hi all!
Hoping for some help please.
In april i advertised some items on gumtree. And i sold one got 52 pounds GBP and they paid through paypal. So i sent them but i do not have proof of postage as silly i was, i binned it
And because i also used to buy/sell on ebay until the new rules come in i did not use it anymore so i deleted my paypal. And i had a dispute opened a few days later.
I do not mind refunding obviously as it is my fault for not getting proof of sending the item. But im worried about how i refund?
I rang paypal up - i was on the phone for 20 minutes to a prenium number, still no joy. I had an email tonight saying the person who bought the item left a comment/writing on the dispute and i was to login to read it. But i cannot read it as i cannot have my account reactivated.
I do not want to make another account and refund that way as they could say i did not refund. I want to get this sorted ASAP as at the end of this month the net will be going due wage problems.
I know its my fault, and i do accept that of course. But is there anyway i can refund? Or will paypal automatically take the money out my bank?
Also payment was sent 20th april, i think the dispute was opened on 30th may.
Thanks:beer:

I think you will receive an email from paypal after you closed your account. There is a link in the email if you want to reactivate your account in the future. I used to reactivate my account 2 or 3 years ago. But I don't know if paypal has not changed this policy now.0

Thank you for the quick response. However, paypal said i cannot reactivate it. I need to make a new account.
But i will not be using paypal in the future.Proud mummy to 3 beautiful children who I love so so much :oxxxx

Please helpp

I posted a thread few days ago. Had no useful replies.
I sold an item in april, around the 20th. Through gumtree and it i sold it for 55 pounds. I posted it, got proof of postage etc. But stupidily binned the proof because i had heard nothing from them. And because i have stopped using paypal, for ebay etc. I closed my paypal. About 7 days later i had a dispute opened for not recieved. They opened the disupute around the 20th may.
I called paypal, asked for my account reactivated etc. They said no. I keep getting emails off them. One was a reply on the dispute and told me to login to read the message - i cannot as it was deleted.
Tonight i have had another email for a complaint? What will happen with this? It says they will be holding my funds, i have around 1000 in my bank - and i was wondering will they take my money?
I made a new paypal account around 10 minutes ago, with the same email address. I cannot get in touch with the buyer. I got another sim to use to contact them, i called - no answer. So i told them the truth, i said i deleted my paypal because im not using it no more, and i am not sure how to refund you and i also said that i have made another paypal and when you come online i will refund.
Before i told them that, i said can you go online asap please. They text back "what do you want to talk to me for?" i have not heard nothing since.
I have not put my bank details on to my new paypal account just yet. But i do want to refund the 52 pounds because i keep worrying about it. And i do not want the police knocking on my house either as i do not have proof as i binned it.
I want to send the 52 pounds through, but the dispute is being open until 11th june and i cannot view the dispute.
Anything i can do to get it sorted today please? I want to refund asap but i do not want paypal saying i have not refunded.
Thanks.Proud mummy to 3 beautiful children who I love so so much :oxxxx

Send Him a cheque... photo copy it make sure you can see the cheque number.. Then ask bank to print something ie letter saying cheque has been cashed or copy of your bank statement . Or email paypal on your behalf....
Speak to your bank they can help with things like this....
Or simply ask him to drop the dispute when he has received his refund!
Just an idea ???Reclaimed £1793 First direct0 -
Im sure refunds have to be in the form that they were received if she sends a cheque it may be possible that he get two refunds!
Also the buyer doesnt sound like a nice one so I wouldnt refund through a different account either as they could possibly get a payment throught that account and a refund from the other!!
What did pay pal say when you called them up? Have you asked explained your predicament to them and asked their advice on what you can do?0 -
Are you sure the item not received dispute isn't spam? I may have read it wrong, but you can't get hold of the buyer, when you text him he wanted to know why you wanted to talk to him.
All just seems a bit weird
Ps, No, they won't take any money from your bank account0 -
Thank you for the replies.
He eventually text me back last night. And he said on the text that i have two choices. I get another table (the item i sold to him). Or i meet him for some "fun" which i am doing neither, i dont know why he mentioned the fun bit. He told me pay the money into the bank account.
I was wondering, if i wait until 11th june. And wait for paypal to decide who has won the dispute, would it be best for me to refund then? And email paypal the email i will recieve off them.
Paypal didnt say much on the phone. They are useless to be honest in my opinion. It took them 20 minutes to tell me i could not reactivate my account and i would recieve an email. I recieved an email about 5 days later telling me to login my account. I told them on the phone i had deleted it.
As i mentioned. I want do want to refund, i just dont want the police or someone knocking at my door.Proud mummy to 3 beautiful children who I love so so much :oxxxx

I was thinking about refunding 20 pounds. Then ask him drop the dispute and i will refund the other 32 pounds. Would this be ok to do?Proud mummy to 3 beautiful children who I love so so much :oxxxx

I woudl just wait until after Paypal finish the dispute before you do anything - or he might end up with more of a refund than what he paid! The experts will be along soon, that text concerns me slightly o.o
If you paid him £20, he might not drop the dispute, then ends up with more.~*Cerenia*~
