Got rid of mine about 4 years ago, horrible sticky stinky thing and a nightmare to clean. I now do the slimming world type chips. Only use a tiny bit of oil so much healthier.
Ditch it - free the cupboard space.0 -
Get rid! We had one for a very short time and I'd agree with previous poster - smelly and hard to clean. And if you've not used it in five months you won't miss it!Resolution:

Keep it.
HM chips are much nicer, and not so fattening if you have the oil hot enough.
Then there's fishcakes, prawn crackers, crispy noodles, proper battered fish, battered sausages, non-soggy southern fried style chicken, fried bread, fruit fritters, doughnuts, pakoras, onion bhajis, samosas, spring rolls (all HM I must add;))...
We do not eat a load of fried food but for the odd special thing it is essential.
I have one and it is not used every week even but it is very handy, and it is in a cupboard in the kitchen. None of my appliances gets a permanent slot on the work surface, not even the SC LOL;)Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Guess its ok for your kids to have clogged up arteries so long as they don't look fat and ugly0

I have a chip fryer, we dont use it very often but its handy to have.
Yes, it is a bit difficult to clean, but any time i use any type of fat, whether in the oven, hob or fryer, it makes the kitchen smelly.
When we have chips (not often at all) they taste so much better in the fryer, oven chips, HM or shop bought never taste the same - and with HM chips, i can make sure ive drained off as much of the fat as i can, unlike shop bought chips.
As for clogged up arteries, you can get that from a lot more foods than the few you fry in a fryer!!! If you were using the fryer everyday, or even every week, that might be valid, but every now and again, you would be fine.0 -
I don't dare own a deep fat fryer - I'd live on chips if i did
So I've voted to get rid of it - especially as you haven't used it in ages. I'm sure someone on freecycle would appreciate it.0
