My OH is on the way back from Argos having bought a slow cooker (he asked me should he buy me some slippers whilst he was out too)
What recipe would you recommend for a first timer? I'm gonna make him eat his words!!

I've had it with rice and another time with pasta. Rice, I thought, was better. You'll be pleased to know that C_Q liked it too.
She'll be along in a minute with ten much better recipes thoughHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I got one from Argos yesterday, the MR 6.5l ... I have 3lbs of good butcher's sausages sitting in the fridge to try out sausages in onion gravy tomorrow
like the sound of that ginger chicken, might try that next0 -
I nearly got the Cookworks one - great price! I was so busy looking at whether the slow cookers were oval I ended up with the MR 6.5l one  There's only 2 of us plus a littl'un!Owned by [STRIKE]4[/STRIKE] 4 cats: 2 x Maine coon cross males, 1 x Pixie Bob male and[STRIKE] 2[/STRIKE] 1 x Norwegian Forest male....cute!

I'm sure neither of us will regret it Petal
there's only me & my teenage son here, but my reasoning is ...
1) I can freeze any surplus
2) if I have friends in or the other kids are in residence the extra capacity will be useful
3) I can do a decent sized chicken or joint of meat in it0 -
Yep...that's what I thought when I got over the shock of the size of it...lol. I'd really like to make my Pa a neck of lamb stew (his favourite) and I've NEVER made a stew in my life  My sister makes him stews but he always complains about the meat being tough...so I'll give it a go.Owned by [STRIKE]4[/STRIKE] 4 cats: 2 x Maine coon cross males, 1 x Pixie Bob male and[STRIKE] 2[/STRIKE] 1 x Norwegian Forest male....cute!
