at Christmas dinner/hogmanay dinner we always have roast parsnips,

    peel and quarter length-ways
    par-boil for approx 3 mins
drain and then dip into a mixture of palian flour and parmazan cheese (can be the processsed, longlife, already chopped kind : ;D).
then roast as per roast potatoes, in hot oil until crispy.

    Yum ;D ;D ;D

I am going to give the veggie chips a go - can you explain a bit more about the microwave technique 160?

I've just made these and they are absolutely gorgeous! I should have had breakfast first as I ate half the first batch just testing them.

I used large new potatoes and they only needed 3 x 2 minutes in the microwave.

I've also made some salt-less sweet potato crisps for OH as he has high blood pressure and cannot have too much salt. These only needed 2 x 2 minutes each.

I found that by using two plate I could have a production line going. One in the microwave whilst I'm turning the other lot.
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D

a few weeks ago i had some of those rather expensive vegtable crisps. I have heard that they are really simple to make but does anyone know how? I dont want to deep fry them i have tried sweet potato in the oven with just a littlle bit of oil on but they dont go crispy... what is the secret and how do you make them. That gillian McKieth from "you are what you eat" makes them i think... does anyone have her book and what does it say?
Are they much healthier than normal crisps or not?

I found a recipe for vegetable crisps here. I haven't tried them, so I can't vouch for how good they are.

I am sure that there was ones made from baked in oven. And I have'nt read it all but I think there is another way to make crisp by Mircrowaving them too.

"You will need: Blow torch, Cheese knife "
and then it doesn't mention a blow torch or cheese knife in the instructions
Recipe looks good apart from that though - I too had a pack a few weeks ago and was rather enjoying them until I saw the price sticker on the back!
