Thanks to a kind( ???) friend I seem to be in possession of half a field of organic, home-grown root vegetables- carrots, swede, turnip, beetroot etc. In the past I've bought those v. expensive crisp-type things made from a mixture of root vegetables. Think I got them from a health-food type of shop. Does anyone know how you can make them yourself at home?
Thanks
Thanks

Nice to save.

I never thought about doing this but the recipes look really nice, might be a way of getting kids to eat veg too. I suppose its slightly healthier than a bag of Walkers too.
Found these:
Root vegetable crisps
Curried sweet potato crisps
You can do it with fruit too:
Fruit crisps
Strawberry crisps (hmmm, these sound lovely :P)

My family love parsnip oven chips, which make a lovely (sweeter) change from potato ones and are also ideal for those of us watching our weight, if you choose to use an oil spray :
Peel and cut parsnips into chips shapes.
Boil for 3 minutes.
Put on a plate and blot with kitchen paper.
Spray a baking tray with "fry Lite" olive oil spray.
Place chips on baking tray and spray again with olive oil.
Sprinkle with salt (I also sprinkle paprika pepper on them).
Cook on highest oven setting for 20 - 30 minutes.
You can obviously do a low-fat potato version as well.Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
I know what I'm gonna be doing sometime this week-end :P

not looked at the recipes, so sorry if this has been on there, i slice mine thin and cook in micro for 5-10 mins, till crisp, put them flat on some kitchen roll, sprinkle with salt if desired.
they are good this way, as you don't add any fat.0 -
