Electric guitar for beginner - What to buy?

I started out with a Squier Strat electric guitar and was able to get a package that came with an amplifier, soft case, leads and instruction booklet. I would certainly recommend it.

That's the pack I got, but my amp is 15 watts. They used to do them in red and sunburst as well, but I did get mine four years ago!0
