Oh, and aparently I have got my height wrong, I'm 5'8 not 5'4,

........:eek::eek: ... raph, how can you be so off the mark? lol. I've heard of overstating your height by an inch but to understate by 4 inches is bordering on the criminal!!! :D

Hello, I am new to this board but wanted to share my diet plans and hopefully get some encouragement!
I have been trawling the internet looking to see if anyone else has ever tried the type of diet I have decided to embark on. But it seems my brilliant ideas is a first

I worked out that i need to eat about 1300-1500 cals per day to lose about 2 pounds a week. this is based on my activity levels etc but mostly due to my fairly sluggish metablolism due to high body fat.

I couldn't get my head around how to slice that up during the day so i don't get hungry in the afternoons or mornings etc. So i thought - I am awake for around 13-15 hours a day - why not just eat 100 cals per hour all day!

I am on my second day of doing this and I am coping really well. i am usually hungry on a farily restrictive diet like this, but actually this time my blood sugars are kept constant and actually I feel like i am eating all day long!

I have worked out loads of 100 calorie foods and decided to keep it as balanced as possible. So I am making sure I have at least 5 hourly snacks as fruit and veg, plus a couple of yoghurts/milk and 3/4 protein snacks (eg 20g cheese, 1 egg, a few slices ham etc) and the rest are treats like quavers, a couple of plain biscuits etc. I am also drinking loads of water and sugar free drinks.

To accomodate your evening meal etc you could save up a couple of extra hours so you can eat 300 cals instead of just 100. but I think the whole point is keeping on an even keel all day - not hungry, but not full. kind of just right all day. For me so far this has really worked.

i think this is brilliant - it is comman knowledge that we burn off around 100 cals per hour living our normal sedentary lives (this includes over night), so add to that my hour of walking per day and my busy job, plus my cycling then I can't go wrong. I will never overeat.

Luckily I am pretty good at working out calories (too many years practise!) so it isn't too hard for me. other people may find it a bit of a faff, but i am quite excited that i have stumbled over something which never occurred to me before.

What do you guys think? What suggestions do you have for good 100 calorie snacks? Am i mad? Will I be able to keep this up - is it practical?

As for me - I want to lose 3 stone. I am very active but i guess i love my sugary foods which are my downfall:)

Don't blame me!! My mum measured me last time she was here (and I don't think I've grow 4 inches in 6 months)

At least I understated and not over!! If 4 inches means I've dropped my final target by 1 & half stone, I'd hate to have to increase it!

... well yeah there is that :D That must have come as a right bonus.:T Still baffling to think you can't have really known your height in years and years.

NZmegs, there'll be someone along in the near future called missyg - your question sounds right up her street :)

some really great photos, thanks all.

Some good losses too, well done.

Vix, I am the same as you, been here (on and off) for ages and still not on the straight and narrow downward path, my path veers off the road loads, but hopefully it will go down at least! (sorry, didn't mean to talk in riddles but you know what I mean - Lol)

nzmegs - I like your way of thinking, but I imagine it would be hard finding things of less than100 cals all the time, won't it get boring after a while? If anyone has any ideas about this let us know if it is sustainable and whether it works this way. Good luck anyhow.

I always stick .5 of an inch on my height, I hate being 5ft 2.5 in - it always seems to sound better if you're 5ft 3in!

    take care all
If you don't have something nice to say don't bother saying anything at all.

Raph - good news about the height being in your favour for BMI :D I don't think this will affect your body fat %, don't believe height comes into that at all (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

Hello Nzmegs! Welcome to the thread and thanks for introducing yourself. I am a calorie counter too, and when I'm on a 1200/day pace I try to make sure I'm getting 400 calories during each "third" of the day, so yours seems like a progression from that! :)

For me personally I know I couldn't be bothered to eat 12 times a day, it would feel like my life was revolving around what to eat next and I'd end up saving it and be back to 3 meals anyway :p I'm still very interested to hear how you get on though! Here are some of my fave approx 100 cals foods - haven't included veg as obviously you can have loads for 100 cals:
    • Bran flakes 25g with 100ml skimmed milk (119)
    • 1 slice granary bread (86) plus a smidgen of spread
    • 5x Cheddar crackers with marmite (110)
    • Walkers baked crisps (99) YUM YUM YUM
    • A crumpet (86) + little spread
    • 2x Ryvita with laughing cow spread (89)
    • Semi skimmed milk 200ml - as a drink (98)
    • Multigrain bar (71) perhaps add a few raisins
    • Half tin peaches (90)
    • 30g raisins (98)
    • Half tin spaghetti hoops in tomato sauce (118)
    • Special K dry no milk 25g (94)
    • Home made lolly made from Angel Delight (95)
Haha Ajax you knew I'd be onto that one! :rotfl:

I'm not sure, but the gym instructor typed my height into the machine & it's on the print out. (I thought it was a bit odd they didn't have a height chart on the wall to be honest.)
Not sure how/if it will effect the results
