  • hi everyone can I join you? as of yesterday I have a gadget that measures how much electric I am using and currently its about £6.95 a day. I wondered the following:
How much would the gadget be costing to run 24/7 (ha ha)
Can I get energy saving CANDLE push in bulbs for my 'chandelier' style lights - they take 5 bulbs and the power wooshes up when they are on!
Surprisingly a strip light in the kitchen uses the least power of all my lighting
Are fan assisted ovens expensive options? mine just conked out so can't measure that one's usage.
FYI I spend £86 a month on electric with EDF (water/ch is gas) and about to review/change supplier.
    Thanks.

  • p.s. scarlet jim the gadget I just got might help you see your consumption for various items - it was from British Gas (surprisingly) a clamp goes on the cable in your mains box and the gismo plugs in at any electric socket and displays your consumption going up and down according to what you have on (plus room temp and time by the way!). hth.

How many bedrooms do you have and how many people living there???
  • hi all

Am looking for some advice to try and lower my electric bill, i am with Scottish Power and according to their website in the last 3 months we used on average 23KWH per day, I am a concerned as this was for summer months and will go up over the winter.
It is an old end terraced victorian house with 5 bedrooms and 2 adults 2 teenagers and 2 small children living in it. There is always someone at home during the day and one of the teenagers stays up very late at night and therefore has lights and tv computer on etc.
we have a dishwasher and washing machine that we use once a day each and a tumble dryer that we are trying not to use.
Any tips would be appreciated as i need to get the bills down.

Interesting article from 2007 from The BBC. Last sentence made me smile, of course it did not happen.
