They are good fun to drive but not to be confused with being anything like a modern car.

If you haven't done already, join the TR Register. http://www.tr-register.co.uk/

Mine was a 1970 in signal red with a black interior and tan hood.

I have been told about the clutch lol. In fairness, I drove around in an old minor for years so I'm more used to driving old cars than OH who has always had the luxury of ABS and air con :D

I think OH is on the TR register, he gets some magazine called TR Action anyway.

    Thanks for the tips :)

    Hi guys,

I have a personalised plate on my current car, but when the MOT runs out this time, I intend to sell the car spares / repairs.

Before I sell it, I will want to put my personalised plate back onto retention and get the old plate / a.n.other plate on the car....

Would the above apply - i.e. will I need to swap the plates about before the MOT runs out?

And dont forget your retention certificate only lasts 12 months, you will need to renew it every year.

    For info:

The donor vehicle (the one the plate is coming off) can still take part in a transfer/retention without current MOT and tax only IF:

    - the last MOT is within 12 months, and
    - the last tax disc ran out naturally (i.e. not refunded) and the vehicle was declared off road (SORN).

If neither apply then vehicle needs to be re-MOT'd and re-taxed.
