Your problem is the buyer might just buy on it and never get round to repairing it so it could never happen.

from what I could gather, before a plate could be transferred the car does need to be in a fit state.

We have a TR6 mid restoration with a plate on it worth around £4k. We tried everything to be able to get the plate onto retention so it could be sold and release the money to finish the restoration, but it cant be done.

My understanding is unless the reg is on retention, then it has to come from a roadworthy donor vehicle.

Lucky you. I loved my TR6.

    You should be...;)

Personally I would keep the car if possible until you can get it back on the road yourself, then do the number plate change, then sell it.

still the same process but you have to ask to retain it, you pay more when you want to put back on a vehicle

    Wrong information..

I love ours, but we bought it as a restoration so I have never driven it :(

Work has really started on it now and with luck it should be on the road before the end of the summer. Its a 73 Pimento Red and its gorgeous. We are also fortunate in the fact the build date was end of December 72 so free tax :D
