Responsibility for delivering the goods of course rests with a seller but negging a seller because RM loose the goods???

Not if you keep the buyer informed, I reckon this seller would have got a neutral or even a positive had they said with the refund "Sorry, Royal Mail must have lost the item" but as I say they've left it up to the buyers imagination and you know people, they think the worst. Simply sending the refund comes across very blunt and as if the seller couldn't care less.

My initial reply was down the the way you were almsot suggesting it was commndable that the seller issued a refund when asked, so what? there wasn't much other recourse open to them and again this came after the buyer hadn't received the item, is the buyer supposed to be happy with a refund, no item, no apology and no clarification on why they haven't got the item?
    Bought, not Brought
  • Yes but couldn't the buyer message me to ask where the item was rather than choosing to do a dispute;

First "communication" from buyer on paypal dispute: "Hello its been 3 weeks since you stated you posted my item on XX and since you live near me it should have been here by now, it shouldnt take weeks to arrive, it is gone missing. Since I dont have my item now under ebays t&cs I want my money back"

Hamster: having been up til 2am studying, this is the first thing I see when I look at my email the next day; REFUND!

    Second "communication" from buyer; NEG!

Oh and I didn't have to refund her, usually when an item I've bought goes AWOL the seller drags it out for weeks on end asking just to wait a bit longer to see if it turns up, and this is before resorting to paypal. Paypal disputes can go on for a month or more! The tone of the message on the dispute just made me think it wasn't worth dragging it out.

So the buyer sent you a message and you didn't give them the simple courtesy of a 2-minute reply, and you're then surprised by getting negative feedback.

Your exams are utterly irrelevant, all ebay sellers are equal, and you need to communicate.

Yes you did right by refunding, but why on earth didn't you just give a message explaining yourself?

If I was the buyer I'd just think you hadn't bothered to send it, had sold it to someone else for more, and had been stringing me along for three weeks.
  • Thats my point though, she didn't even send me a message she just started a dispute, I really feel that her communication could have been better too. Ach well, me and the buyer have both learned about the new ways of the feedback system  I'm sure she'll be totally understanding now she shoes is on the other foot and she is gettign negged herself :rotfl:

Looking at the petty and childish behaviour from some of the `sellers` on here makes me think i should buy things more often just so that i can ruin their YEAR by leaving them one neg

get a grip sellers for gods sake

and OP you being a student , being up doing exams blah blah blah , and you havent got the decency to spend 30 seconds explaining whats happened etc ???

Sellers are right , ebay is doomed if everyones like you

it says it all that you are so so pleased that your buyer has received a negative , i suggest getting out more ;)

I always contact the seller if an item doesn't arrive after 7 to 10 days to enquire about a missing item. Then the buyer answer and apologise and say his/her bit. If the buyer didn't do that he/she is in the wrong. Anything can happen, beside the predictable item lost in the post. After all sellers cannot know it the item has arrived at destination if the buyer don't leave feedback or contact them.
The only way a seller could minimise the risks is to send it recorded delivery and track the packet all the way, in case the buyer is trying it on. But it would only protect them from dodgy disputes, not from negative feedback.
I would never neg a seller who is giving me a quick and problem free refund, and I find it unfair when I see that some sellers are negged when they give a refund. It's easy to be a good seller when the item arrived at destination, but the best sellers are showing only when there is a problem to be solved.
Okay I was disappointed not getting the item when it did happen but at the same time I am not out of pocket and I could find the same item sold by another seller, sometimes at a cheaper price. So for me it's always positive feedbacks when refund is given.

There speaks the guy whos planning on trawling eBay buying cr&p just to leave negs for sellers to try and upset them! Hope the nights fly by for you with that one dude! :rotfl:

What do you mean explain what happened? I sent her a message saying I'd posted it and she (apparently) didn't receive it, I know she's a bit thick but you'd think it was pretty obvious she's managed to rub her two brain cells together in a satisfactory manner and come up with a conclusion. She stated that much on the dispute console. And I was annoyed last night that I never got a chance to explain (or apologise!:p ) before she negged me but I think.............wait.................I might just be............yup I'm over it!

Now run along my good fellow and get negging, just cos you can! :D

Buyers will use any excuse for a negative now.. just because they can.. it's a power trip thing.

I'd love to see stats on the amounts of Postive, Negative and Neutrals left now, compared to before the changes.

Maybe you could email her, check she got the refund and explain you had exams and didn't realise that you should have sent an email also. Would she be willing to take back the negative?

Could it be beacuse buyers can now tell the TRUTH without fear of unjust retaliation ?

I agree some buyers are going to take the !!!! but going by this thread there is some bloody vindictive sellers around...
